Question

Hello All Hope All Is Well.

Went to the VAMC today could not take the pain and numbness 5th and 6th vertebre are fused.

I get temporal headaches that just knock me off my balance.

Has anyone else had this procedure and your thoughts?

There was some temp.relief but I dont know if and how long this may last?

As for the injection CRUNCH and lots of pain radiate both up and down the body.

I've had nerve blocks done on my neck in the past. For me the relief was minimal, but the degree of relief and duration of relief are patient specific. Meaning they work differently for everyone. I do think they are worth trying though, any relief is better than no relief.

Mcafee,

I do not know if this is the same type of injections you are considering.

I was considering the VAMC doing botox injections in my neck to help

reduce pain and headaches. After they did some testing on me, the doc

stated if they didn't get it in exactly the right place that I may have a

negative effect of not being able to hold my head up right for a couple of weeks.

I declined their offer of these injections.

I had nerve block injections to my lower back. I got almost no relief. It is a money maker for pain management doctors. The medical literature says that there is no proof these injections do anyone any long term good except the doctor's bank account.

John,

That sounds like one of the Court TV Judges (marilyn),

CHA - CHING, CHA - CHING, let the cash register ring !

I just wish they could truly come up with something to help

patients with pain.

I had a series of three shots a week apart. Each one helped more than the previous one. After the third one I was 99% pain free. It lasted about 5 or 6 days and then back to square one.

The Pain Management then did a different where "some medication" was injected, down to the bone, in four different places on my back. I assume ( I know about assume) it was at 4 different vertebra. The first one took over 50% of the pain away. The second treatment left me 99% pain free. This procedure was on March 23rd. So far, so good.

The Doc says that if this does not work then he will shoot the area with "radio waves."
