Sidney56
I had an appeal mental health C&P exam last month ordered by the AMC. I tried to get a copy of the exam a couple of weeks later and was told by the ROI that the Dr would not release a copy because I had to get it from the RO whom had requested it. They didn't request it, the AMC did was what I told her. She said that it was sent to the RO and to contact them. I called the 800# and was told that they had not received the results yet, but to write a letter and request a copy and when they received the results a copy would be sent to me. I did this a couple of weeks back. I decided to call today to find out if they had received the results and guess what the H*LL I was told; "We don't have your records here and have not had them since Jan' 09. Your records are at the AMC so all your exam results will be sent to them." I told him what the previous conversation was with their office, and as usual he stated; " I don't know why you were told that, because we don't have your records." He said the AMC received the exam results on Aug' 25th and they will be the AMC will make a decision and then notify me. I guess my results are floating around in cyber space some where. What is the normal procedure in this situation? I know their is nothing normal about the VA, but there must be some way I can find out where the results are. I have never been able to contact the AMC concerning anything. Edited September 1, 2010 by Sidney56
carlie
Thanks Carlie....I'll wait. I have a primary care clinic appointment Friday. I'll go up to the ROI office and try again. I'll maybe tell a little grey lie and say that the RO said that the AMC has my results already and to request a copy from the ROI office. If you have a good report with your PCP - they can also pull up the C&P.
Sidney56
If you have a good report with your PCP - they can also pull up the C&P. I'm not seeing the Dr Carlie....having a blood pressure follow up with the nurse. Maybe I'll ask her and see what she can come up with. Could ask to speak with the Dr, but trying to see him on a non appointment day is like pulling hen's teeth.

Sidney56
I hate it when that type of run-a-round happens... JMHO...You may have to wait for the decision. Yea Commander.....been told that a lot and I have kicked into waiting mode again. I'm hoping this may be a good thing because, if it had went back to the RO they have a tendency to sit on their thumbs as long as possible. At least that is the experience that I have had in the past with my RO. Hopefully the AMC will move on this since the secretary made the bold statement of having the backlog cleaned up by the end of the year. It has already been at the AMC since Jan' 09, almost 2 years. Gawd, hearing this again made me laugh so hard and long tears came out and then I barfed up about 4 cups of coffee. I got some good high and dry property for sale in the everglades, you want to set up an appointment to look it over : )
stillhere
If the only info is from the 800# and not your RO directly I would suggest you call the 800# and ask for the RO's fax number tell them that you need to fax in some evidence. Then send the RO's playing dumb and just say I would like a copy of my last mental C&P if they do have it and it can be released then you are home free. If you do that and the RO sends you an email or phone call telling you they don't have it then do the same with the AMC. Fax them direct and ask for a copy. This will do two things 1 it will get everything in writing and two you will be dealing directly with those that ordered it and not some slush at the call center. Let us know how it goes and remember never ventured nothing gained.
