Sleep Insomnia

Question

Hey guys, I just wanted to know more details about sleep insomnia. In my claim I listed sleep insomnia for one of my disabilities but I just thought about it and didn't have any sort of C&P for sleep insomnia. While deployed I was doing guntruck missions when an IED hit our truck and ever since then I wasn't able to sleep right,(not to mention the firefights and other IEDs that hit us) When I got back from the mission my CO made me go get it checked out and I did. It was all documented and the VA has all my medical records. So I guess my question is will they rate me for it or just deny me, the only thing the VA has done about my sleeping is give me "Quetiapine Fumarate" . Thanks guys.

I filed two separate claims, Insomnia and Sleep Apnea. I will read over my C and P results and give exactly what was said tomorrow. I must tell you they (VA) stated my insomnia was caused by my Chronic Back Problems which I filed for also.

Yea I might have to file a second claim but I will wait until my first one comes back...Coming up on a year so I pray it should be soon. I also request my C&P results back in October of 2010 and still waiting for them...lol...It's been one hell of a ride.

I dont know that insomnia is ratable. I think I read that there are something like 100 sleep disorders, but I just doubt that not being able to sleep at night is ratable.

If you have Sleep Apnea, and use a CPAP, this is rated at 50% if service connected. Sleep Apnea is probably a much more serious disorder than insomnia. I think it was Reggie White, the Green Bay Packer, who died of sleep Apnea.

I do think insomnia could lead to other disorders...and could even be a symptom of sleep apnea, tho I am not sure. I have sleep apnea and use a

CPAP, but it is not service connected.

How can someone tie sleep apnea to service connected? My sleep apnea is the type that I stop breathing for no reason a few times a night. It was hard getting use to my CPAP machine, but now I can't live without it. I didn't know I had it till after the testing was complete. Then I checked with a couple of my ex's and they all said that it kinda scared them that I would all of a sudden quit breathing and a couple of seconds later I would restart. I asked them how come they never said anything to me. Common response was "you started breathing again". Still have sleep problems, but it's so much better with the CPAP.Mike
