Regardless they will have to send you a letter for pension. Long it short it probably will slow down your claim; however, if they know what they are doing and you fit all requirements they can administratively grant you pension whe the comp claim runs. Remember the requirements. 65 years of age or on ssda. Income ok. Svc ok and net woth ok.

No they don't count your comp. You are correct ion which is higher comp vs pension. If your kids and wife draw social security off of you they count that as income, but don't forget to count expenses too. You are doing your homework checking the va sites. Good job. Hope this helps.

Back in the day (70's) a claim for comp was a claim for pension and vice versa but I don't know if that continues. The VA will pay the higher benefit and it is your choice, which you can receive, if qualified for each. Pension is offset by other income.
