Question

All,

My previous claims were completed a couple of months ago and then I requested and received a copy of my medical records from the VA hospital where I go for everything and did some reading. I am claiming five issues that I found in the record and one just because I can. Comment on any, suggestions, and wish me luck.

1. Left shoulder condition-they took x-rays of both shoulders for my right shoulder increase and said I should request addition of arthritis for my left shoulder. Already 10% left shoulder for tendinopothy, so combined not stacked, probably no increase.

2. Plantar's warts-C&P examiner recommended that I claim this as I had them removed twice while on active duty and once since I left service, right foot only. Hoping for 10%.

3. Hemorrhoids-Just had my 50 year short colonoscopy, doctor commented on my having internal and external hemorrhoids, with history of such. No issues at this time, just would like service connection. Probably 0%.

4. Thoracic spine arthritis-Recent x-ray shows DDD/DJD and arthritis. Same thing showed up on my neck (DDD at 20%), doctor said it was progressed enough to have started on active duty. I'm thinking 10%.

5. Lumbar spine arthritis-Recent x-ray shows DDD and arthritis. See (thoracic) above. Probably combined with above. 10% total, unless ROM is the issue, graded accordingly combined with thoracic.

6. Acquired psychiatric disorder to include obsessive compulsive disorder-Been seeing a VA councilor for 4 months after ocd comments from family and coworkers. We'll see on this one. No clue?

Currently at 65 rounded to 70, so I would have to hit a 20 and a 10, or three 10's for a increase in compensation. Probably won't hit that, however, it would be good to get some of these SC'd for the future if I were to have complication in these areas, etc.

Thanks,

Hamslice

Pending Approval...and the wheel slowly turns.....

And thanks for the congrats justrluk and commander bob! Got the letter today too! Withheld 55% of my retro due to CRSC/CRDP (But I'm not highjacking Hamslice' thread).

HA! I spent my summers up there abouts...a place called Torch Lake? Back in the 60's. My grandfather owned about half of the property surrounding it for almost 50 years. I remember a bait shop with a glass topped freezer case out front and it always had some big walleyes or a big Muskee in it. Ahhh memories...

Went to "Complete" today. Just shy of one year on five claims. This was the last one for the referred item. Tried all the tricks on eBenifits, however, no rise in percentage. I had a sneaky feeling, that it would be SC'd at zero.

I do not know how long after they hit the complete button the rest follows suit when you get a increase, so I'll keep checking until I get the letter they say they sent out.

Well its done. I guessed half right. I was SC'd for plantar warts at 0%, however I was also SC'd for scars at 0%.

Out of the 5 issues claimed this go-around, I was SC'd at 20% for one, SC'd at 0% for three and denied two.

As I stated before, my rate of comp will not change as my actual % went from 65 to 72, but I gained 4 more SC'd conditions which will be of benifit in the future if I have complications in those areas.

Pretty satisfied with the results. I have a couple of issues that I will be researching, however I need to re-shingle my roof before winter (When I built my home in '83, I shingled my house in a day, now that I cant bend down it will be interesting, ha, ha) and will give these results a little time to settle. I will keep the one year rule in mind, etc.

A couple months ago I recieved about 30 pages of medical records from when I was hospitalized in Iraq or four days that I know the VA dose not have. I'm not sure there is anything in there, however, I will give it a good going over.

Also, I have never requested my c-file, so since all my claims are done, I will be requesting that in the near future. Something to read over winter.

Oh, and I will be getting my free VA flu shot.
