Tdiu Claim Status

Question

My TDIU claim status is currently at "preparation for decision" & has been in that status since 05/2011! I filed my claim in 10/2010. I don't understand how the VA can take so long on a claim like this knowing a veteran can no longer work! It does not make sense to me & I know the VA never makes sense on anything they do, but they try to publicly say they're trying to improve the claims process & help our veterans receive the benefits they deserve, but that's all BS! Is there anything I can do since my claim is almost 15 months old? I'm only 33 & have a wife & son that I feel I have let down. Any help, comment, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all who are serving or have served our great country!

Just FWIW - we still are under about a million claims in this backlog.

They are just finishing up the Majority of Nehmer claims mandated

by the courts decision.

Do not expect this backlog to clear up soon.

Most times doing a congressional inquiry will do little more than add

some additional time onto our waiting.

Many, many, members here have been waiting for years on appeals.

I recently had claim issues finally granted SC'd at the BVA level that

go back to 1978 - 1993 and 1999.

I realize this does not ease your frustration and anger any -

but it's to let you know - you are not alone.

Do everything you can to provide for your families, cut all expenses that are

not a true necessity and just try to hang onto what you can - your family and

loved ones being the most important.

We used to do some recipes in the social chat forum - vets posting about

twenty ways to feed a family of 5 or 6 a great meal for 5 bucks or less.

Cutting expenses means even the basics, turning off things when not in use,

not just taking a drive, planning your shopping with a list and sticking to it.

Let the house be a bit colder or warmer than you would like - just put on more clothes

or take off more clothes.

I don't know much about it but VA is supposed to have a section on their web site for homeless veterans.

Some might need to check that out.

Options are few - hang in there - come here and vent, it's better for your families that way.

I have an inquiry number, would that still be in the records the same as through iris?

SSGmijak, not sure about that but iris do go in records and you will get a responce. I found if you do a iris and add another question a little later to it they responce quickly on it.

This has work for me not always what you want to hear but something. Good luck.

Thank you tmoe, I will give the VA until the 6th to respond & if they don't I will just put another iris inquiry in & that way I know for sure it will go into my records. Thanks for the help!

Thank you Carlie! I'm sorry to hear everything you had to go through. I have cut as much as I could to save a little here & there, but I know things could be worse, but you still can't help but feel like your letting your family down. I will go through our finances again & see what we can do to cut back some more. Do you have a link to the 5 dollar meals? Thanks again & I hope you have a Happy New Year Carlie!
