Proposed 1.7% Pay Hike

Of course, I dont know if this will fly, and I dont know that Veterans will be 1.7% Cola, but it would appear likely.

Some here may be due for a shock cause the Senate has not approved the 1.7% hike and unless there is a special session after the election it is not going to happen until January. I am speaking of the hold placed in the Senate of our increase so it has not been voted on.

It will be.....may not get it until the February check.

This may be our last COLA in the form of how the current CPI is calculated.........There is an agreement in play on both sides to re-formulate the way COLAS are figured and they are going to change this, NOT in our favor once again.......I look at this COLA as our last based on any form of real numbers as skewed as they are, the following after this will be devastating as inflation gets out of hand.

To the taxpayers (which I am one of) I say,

thanks for the 1.7 percent bump up in both my SSA and VA benefits.

I think it's great to get this increase, especially with the civilian populace in general,

not getting much at all in the way of benefits or financial increases.

Many are having such struggles to have a roof over them and some chow

for them and their families.

Heck - we went through about 4-6 years or more straight, with no cola's

so, personally I am thankful.

I actually feel blessed and favored in life - - -for now.

This does not at all mean I am without difficulties of my own,

but in receiving my benefits some of my stress, is lowered.

As usual, Carlie has the right of it. Gratitude is the right attitude, for any thing we get.

I admit to being a bitter, resentful person in a lot of ways for a lot of things. But I'm not doing myself or anyone else any favors by griping about what we get. Especially, as Carlie says, so many others get nothing or far, far too little and much less than they deserve.

I just wish the news people would stop acting like we're wealthy freeloaders getting yet another pay raise. I really do object to that.
