HadIt.com Elder Testvet Posted July 12, 2013 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 12, 2013 sorry military retirement pay is not tax free I don't know anything about Tricare but I think as long as YOU PAY YOUR FAMILY DEDUCTIBLES then that will stay in effect you still would have that medical care for yourself and your family they don't take away your military IDs you still get to fly Space A the one benefit 100% VA disabled is denied access to your are talking thousands of dollars annually you need to talk to a tax professional before you rashly sign some papers keeping the VA check is in your best interest 100% SC P&T PTSD 100% CAD 10% Hypertension and A&A = SMC L, SSD a disabled American veteran certified lol "A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." HadIt.com Elder Chuck75 Posted July 12, 2013 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 12, 2013 Plus, under certain limited conditions, both retirement and VA compensation may be paid concurrently, even possibly without offset. Military retirement is taxed by federal, and in some places, states. It can get complicated when you are eligible for SSA as well. Another "gotcha" has to do with employment pensions from a government or other entity that does not pay into the SS program. This can possibly offset spouse SSA.
