My Va Disability Payment Was Lowered Without Notice

Rate this question

Question

We're in a little bit of a strange situation and need some advice. My disability payment on Jan 31 was $0.65 lower than the posted rating tables and what the VA paid the month previous on Dec 31. It's a very small amount, but I have no idea why. I've asked the VA through IRIS with no response yet. Then, as a retired Coastie, went to our version of DFAS to see if there is any indication of what happened on their end.

Could this be related to the complete separation of retired pay from disability compensation under CRDP?

I requested copies of my C&P exams, apparently twice, because I forgot that I'd asked after months and months went by and asked again. So within a few weeks, two big envelopes arrived. Could this be copying/shipping fees being taken out of my pay?

It's more of a curiousity at this point, but there's something about having stable pay or at least some communication as to why.

Anyone have any experience or advice as to what happened?

This has to do with a slight miscalculation of COLA for the beginning of the year. They re-ran the algorithm and so corrections went out with this payment.

If they can't get our claims right the first time, we sure can't count on them to get the COLA calculations correct.
