Need Little Help Tracking Down Records

Question

Dear members,

I am from California and former USMC (sergeant).

So far I tried calling VA Long Beach, VA Regional Office in San Diego, VA Oakland, and Archieve in order to track down my service medical records.

They all keep telling me they have and when I call them they say, "we do not have your service record, the VA will have it."

I am not too sure who to call anymore.

Thank you so much for your help. My old LT wrote me a missing gear statement when my seabag and my personnel medical record got lost in Iraq, but I was told they usually have

more than one copy of it.

I got out back in 2008.

Quite often the VA RO tends to be the place that stores your service medical records. Sometimes they don't have them at that specific location, but may keep them in long term storage at a separate location.

You might also consider putting in a government archive request for your records. You never know, but they might have a copy.
