Social Security Call

Question

Social Security called me today and asked a bunch of questions. They said my effective date would be 06 July for disability and they said since I'm 100% but not P&T that means they have to get more records from the VA. Any input appreciated.

Interesting that they gave you an effective date, but then turned around and said they needed more records. Did they say if you were approved?

Also, how long ago did you submit your application? I heard that 100% P&T gets priority handling.

If you have been 100% more than 5 years or if you are (not sure about this) 55 or 65, you might be able to ask the VA to bump it up to P&T status. That could help too.

I suggest that you get copies of your medical records from VAMC and a copy of your award letter and get it to social security. No telling how long it would take VA to get copies to SS.

Good Luck.

I would also ask SS to consider the effective date VA gave if it is earlier than July 6th

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

Probably want to know what condition(s) the VA feels may not be permanent. I wouldn't sweat it, but having hard copies of all VA records is good advice too.
