Do You Need All The Symptoms To Get The Ptsd Rating?

Question

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew how the VA choose what percentage to place a veteran in for their award. If the Total occupational box is checked, does that necessary means 100 percent? Also do you have to have all the symptons stated under that percentage or is it based on which one that you have the most marks under? Looking for inputs from anyone????... Thank you?

It's a pretty oddball formula. You don't need every single possible symptom. The VA does like to start with lesser diagnosis, unless there is a history to work from. I'm not a PTSD expert, but regardless of whatever mental health diagnosis you may have, they will only provide a single rating for mental health. The % is not based on the diagnosis, but is instead based on the combination of symptoms.

Good luck!

My last C&P back in Feb 14, the Doc actually stated in notes "Vet has met 100% due to Chronic PTSD Symptoms" and my PTSD was increased from 30% to 70%, but no 100%. Good luck and just try not to get so crazy with the claim.
