Congrats on the 100% Schedular, that is way better than IU. The VA will leave you alone now, and not ask yearly whether you are working or not. Also if God Forbid you pass away, that Schedular is better than IU, as my 65 yr old Widow of a Vet just found out the hard way.

I say Yippee to that as well.

The VA is trying to tell me that my husband's 1151 stroke, which was 100 P & T by all medical evidence, (from mainly the VA itself, 3 doctors and stated in a letter he received from a former VA Secretary)

was 100% but not P & T.

That is -the Director is trying to get me to buy thatby phone.... The decision does not say anything like that.

VA Central however says they already awarded the 100% ,SMC, P & T accrued for 22 months.with 2 dependents

I got only 6 months.....somebody out there got the additional nice 5 figure award.

It is ridiculous how the VA treats survivors of vets.

For me it is only one more battle because they refuse to read my evidence.

I guess they dont want to because they paid (per VACO) someone else my money. I contacted the IG.

Navy04 why did they deny the widow you are helping?

Can she join us here in the DIC forum?

My AO IHD denial (which the dopes fixed in 3 weeks to an award ) was the most ludicrous decision I ever saw.

I wondered at the time how many widows this same VA rater pulled the same BS on.

If we survivors dont know our rights (and vet reps are not much help there) we can get screwed big time by the very entity our dead spouses paid for with their service.

GRADUATE ! Nov 2nd 2007 American Military University !

When thousands of Americans faced annihilation in the 1800s Chief

Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.

Are surviving spouses not entitled to DIC if the Vet was 100% IU P&T?

That is what you want to have happened. Get rid of the IU designator. No more exams or letters from the VA asking if you have worked.

Keep in mind that even with a 100% rating for ptsd you still cannot work as the regs state precludes employment.

A Veteran is a person who served this country. Treat them with respect.

A Disabled Veteran is a person who served this country and bears the scars of that service regardless of when or where they served.

Treat them with the upmost respect. I do. Rejection is not a sign of failure. Failure is not an option, Medical opinions and evidence wins claims. Trust in others is a virtue but you take the T out of Trust and you are left with Rust so be wise about who you are dealing with.
