Sad situation for sure!  I maybe going through the same thing with a swollen prostate.

that's all the Docs are telling me  and I have never been referred to a urologist.

I been thinking about going to the private sector for second opinion.

Cancer or not, there is zero excuse for the VA to blow off any health issues for any veteran

Very true!

But, you have to consider that the VA is more concerned about time, money, number of veterans seen,

and so forth than it is a veteran. It's also of note that "institutionalized medicine" in general is more about treating

patients as cheaply as possible than it is the welfare of or optimal outcome for an individual patient.

This is what we are being forced into bit by bit by Insurance, Medicare, and, naturally, the VA.
