green
I have to agree, some days it seems as though the deck is stacked against us. Truth is I don't believe the VA has the final word on anything and that in itself helps me remain positive (like everyone else I too slip at times). TALON II FE
You may be right for reimbursement, actually, I have never believed my time was worth little enough to jump through all the hoops to get reimbursed. I was a DTS officer at a special operations unit as an additional duty for several years, so I am very familiar with the JFTR and how the govt pays for travel. What I may have done is lumped it together in my head with how they decide if a VA facility (this applies for Tricare Prime as well, btw) is within a "reasonable" distance from your house. The reg used to say 'within a 30 minute drive" but that is obviously not an actual distance. I have argued this with Tri-Care for years, had all my dependents being seen by civilian Docs until I retired, at which time they broke out the new wording and moved us all to a clinic 45-60 minutes away.
