Question

For you Vets under 65, that get a 100% SC or IU T & P Award, don't forget to sign up for the VA $10K FREE Life Insurance. If your already paying for it, be sure to file for a refund back to your 100% SC or IU Award Date.

The $10K isn't much, but it'll help plant you or throw a nice memorial party after your ashes are scattered.

True, BUT, you can sometimes get "waiver of payment premiums" NOT JUST for 100% T and P VEts.  I got "waiver of premiums" from VA life insurance even tho I was only 40% back then.  (I was on pension, and, at that time I was considered unemployable, but NOT due to SC conditions.)

So, you can apply for VA life insurance, and see if the "waiver of premiums" is granted, if you get a disablity rating.

If the "waiver of premiums" for VA life insurance is denied, then you can decide if you want to keep the life insurance or not, even if you have to pay for it.

Remember, the VA life insurance 10,000 policy is whole life and builds up cash value.  (VA may also have term insurance policies that do not build up cash, but the 10,000 "free" life  (for disable VEts) is whole life.

I got my VA life insurance in 2007, and I could cash mine in now for more than $3000 in cash.  (I wont do that, tho, because my policy will "build up" cash each year, until the policy is worth 10,000 in cash.    I have never paid a cent in premiums

So, I went and looked into this a little more, and the VA website and form say that you have to be P&T and IU.  I am 100% P&T, but not IU. Am I seeing this information wrong or is there something else I don't know?

Thanks.

I had the $10K policy in 2011, monthly payment deducted from 90% Comp. IU T & P Awarded DRO Hearing 06/14 (66) effective early 12.

12 past months of 10K Policy premiums were refunded along with a waiver of all future payments.
