0 Berta
Just to remind all ( we get many non member guests reading these posts) The VA will NOT accept any PTSD diagnosis from non VA doctors, per the 2010 PTSD regulations for all initial PTSD claims filed after July 2010. The diagnosis Must come from a VA MH professional. A LMSW is not a MH professional....for PTSD claims...Only a VA psychologist or VA psychiatrist is. 0 HadIt.com Elder Buck52 Posted December 4, 2016 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) Ms berta A VA L.C.S.W certified can fill out the PTSD DBQ it says it on the DBQ Form a long as HE/SHE is under the guide-ness of a VA MH professional or Dr.Specialist Now of course a rater may not take that as probative evidence b/c a l.C.S.W is not qualified to render his/her opinion? So it makes it hard for veterans to understand why because on the DBQ it states a L.C.S.W Can fill out the DBQ. The VA needs to amend this or explain it better. I think all DBQ's should be filled out at the C&P with the veteran present. Edited December 4, 2016 by Buck52

" Now of course a rater may not take that as probative evidence b/c a l.C.S.W is not qualified to render his/her opinion?" I would think VA would question a non VA LCSW's opinion if it is a diagnosis of PTSD,unless a VA MH professional agrees with it. I had been breezing over an odd denial at the BVA yesterday. But I didnt read it well enough. "THE ISSUE Entitlement to service connection for a psychiatric disability, to include posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). REPRESENTATION Veteran represented by: Disabled American Veterans WITNESSES AT HEARING ON APPEAL Veteran and R.S., a licensed clinical social worker In part the case states: “The evidence substantiates a current diagnosis of PTSD by a psychiatrist based on DSM-IV.” "ORDER Service connection for a psychiatric disability, to include PTSD, is denied." http://www.index.va.gov/search/va/view.jsp?FV=http://www.va.gov/vetapp16/Files2/1609982.txt (I had though the BVA had rejected the prior non VA diagnosis of this veteran....but regardless of diagnosis of PTSD from Non VA and also VA MH providers, the stressors were never proven and that is why the veteran was denied.) I Stand corrected Buck! Thank you. Edited December 5, 2016 by Berta
0 HadIt.com Elder Buck52 Posted December 5, 2016 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted December 5, 2016 None of the L.C.S.W here at my VMC Won't fill one out,,,my C&P Examiner was a License Phyistrist PHD She filled out the DBQ PTSD for me...but I had been diagnose with chronic PTSD from VA MH Dr's its probably a good thing a LCSW never filled one out or I might have been denied too?
