Reviewing medical records for sleep apnea

Question

What medical records do I need to submit for my claim? I know the obvious such as snoring, dry mouth and breathing issues. What about records on other possible symptoms of sleep apnea, obesity, high blood pressure and headaches?

You need the actual overnight Sleep Study Records and the resultant Sleep specialist's DX. The Dr's Clinician Treatment Notes discussing the probable etiology of your OSA, CSA or MSA DX would be very helpful.

The questions your asking kind of indicate that you haven't actually been DX'd (Diagnosed after a Sleep Study} right?

Are you Filing a Direct or Secondary Claim (To What SC)?

Yes I have been diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea and prescribed a CPAP. I'm doing a secondary to restrictive lung disease since it is in my record that I originally claimed sleep apnea but they diagnosed as restrictive lung disease service connected at 0%.

I haven't asked. Should I? Should I have them make a note in my record of they side with me?

pshaw

you shouldn't need to ask  just get the medical records and check what was said

Either at your  Desk of Medical records release,  or check on Myhealthyvet Progress Notes.

Most VA  Dr won't help if you mention a claim  some will but most won't.

Best way to ask just ask the Sleep Dr if your lung disease can be related to your Sleep Apnea in anyway?  just tell him/her your curious as to what caused your Sleep Apnea  in a discreet way. &  don't mention your claim  then check the medical Notes. or ask the Lung Dr the same question.
