11cvolley as asknod mention

about about the * ''sheltered''* employment, you can work in a family business and be on TDIU.  But that's rare.

''If you are rated a true 100% schedular for your disease, and have been granted Chapter 35 DEA benefits, you can go back to work.

On the other hand, if you are rated 70% and granted TDIU at the 100% rate, and also granted Chapter 35 DEA benefits, you cannot go back to work.

There is one narrow exception if you are employed in a "sheltered" employment such as a family business where they include you on the payroll.''

but if they were 100% IU totally then IU is out and a true 100% rating should be given.

I understand that. When he searches he needs to look for jobs where the public can also apply. Depending on the HR type of experience he has he probably won't have too hard of a time finding a job if he is near a major city or even if he wants to work overseas. The perks when you work overseas can be pretty nice, free rent and paid travel home for a vacation. I worked three years overseas in Moscow and it was great. The government paid my rent and all my utilities plus my work allowed to me travel to a few other former Soviet Union countries, it was different but also fun.

If he likes to travel overseas then he showed look at working for Department of State.
