Dodgedriver
I have a disability rating of 80% and I had heard that the VA will take away your disability compensation if you make too much in a civilian job. Is this true? If so, what is the civilian salary cap?
0 Lead Moderator ShrekTheTank Posted March 9, 2019 Lead Moderator Share Posted March 9, 2019 I am under the impression the only way they will reduce is if you are on TDUI. That is were you can’t maintain steady employment because of your disability. Sounds like you are at 80 without anything else. I am at 90% and make $50k. I might soon be at 100% but still employable. 0 Moderator broncovet Posted March 9, 2019 Moderator Share Posted March 9, 2019 No. Read the regulations. The VA has to follow them, too, sometimes. This explains the circumstances when VA can reduce your rating. Basically, if your condition improves since your exam when benefits were awarded, then you can be reduced. https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/38/3.
0 vetquest
I worked for years with a 70% rating and it never came up with the VA. Now that I am on TDIU after I was released from my job due to medical conditions it would matter. Vync and ShrekTheTank
