Do any of you guys know the correct form to file for my spouse? A&A.

I have the 22-5490 form  but it say its for

''Dependents Application For VA Education Benefit's''  7 PAGES  Not counting the proper  R.O. to send it to  which is the Western  Region Muskogee Oklahoma 74402-8888

We are going to file for her A&A Benefit's being I am 100%P&T.

she can get her Dr to write her a letter  she uses two MD's  one his her regular PCP And the other Dr is her specialist Pain Dr..both have render her totally disabled.

Were going to try to get her a part of the A&A.  We should have did this a few years ago   Just found out about her eligibility.  eh!

Beings I get SMC S and SMC K Not sure we or she qualifies.  but she is totally disabled and we need the extra help.

Anybody know the correct form to file for this?  is it the  va 22-5490??

Yeah I am 100%P&T  but our children are grown and on their own.

it's just my spouse that qualifies for A&A...Maybe they will bring this up tonight on the Hadit Podcast Radio show With J Basser and Jereld Cook  I would call in but I can't hear them well enough to talk to them.

Were getting ready to file for A&A  (SPECIAL MONTHLY PENSION) For my disabled spouse

her Dr's have said they will help us  anything her and I need they will help all they can on this A&A

I notice it only pays 158.00 monthly  is this the basic and only allowance  or does it depend on the severity of her condition?

she meets the 1st 3 requirements  the only other requirement she don't meet is she is not totally blind  and in her right mind.

she needs help getting a bath  she needs help getting dressed  she needs help getting up and down  she uses a walker and can  but get around slower than a turtle, I take her to her medical  appointment s  she stopped going to the grocery store  she is not study on her feet  and needs the assistance of another person, she walk slow an dis in pain 100% of the time  she walks humped over and she just look bad bad.

The Dr;s have said she more than likely will not get any bette rthan she is right now..so were going to try to ask VA for some help...they either will or they won't.

I get SMC S H.B. this will not effect my part  correct? because I am service connected 100% plus and this is SMC S H.B. for myself

Its all I can do to help her a smuch a sI can and cook for us clean and do laundry and go to my VA Appointments and still see to my spouse .

Well brokensolider is correct about not getting A&A For Both

this is off the VA Web site

''Veterans and survivors who are eligible for a VA pension and require the aid and attendance of another person, or are housebound, may be eligible for additional monetary payment. ... A Veteran or surviving spouse may not receive Aid and Attendance benefits and Housebound benefits at the same time.

So I can't file for spouse to get the A&A  Because  I am getting the SMC S House Bound and it's  around 375.00400.00 extra or close to that not sure the exact amount....but broken solider is correct You can't get A&A IF you have the SMC S...Which I already have...so it would not be in our best interest to file for my spouse for A&A  if they take mine away and give her less $$  that's stupid  just plan stupid.

The only thing is  do they call the SMC S H.B.  A&A? if yes   then

Were SOL....

Although My spouse meets the requirements for A&A  she needs the aid of another person to help her dress ,bath and to and from the bathroom , help transfer in and how of the chair or bed and I do the cooking and grocery buying,  she spends most of her time either in bed or in a chaIr in the front room.  or at the Dr's office clinic.

its getting to hard for me to do all this, I am afraid she will fall while I am gone to the VA.

Well my spouse got a pretty good letter about her disability's .he name the worse  ones that are the most disabling in Dr Talk .

He filled out the DBQ  21 -2680 For her today..... and also put put on there she needs assistance from another person daily  for normal things like help her get dressed  go to the bath room help up transfer to chair or bed   help cook  ect,,,ect,,,

her Dr is a Pain Dr  and his credential   is MD. he works for Texas Pain Physicians Group.

Has anyone been denied for this for their spouse? for A&A? if not what type medical letter does she need from her Dr?
