0 ewsieczka
I was receiving the stipend for three months in 2019 and then it stopped. The VA Manila Clinic stopped funding it.
0 Moderator broncovet Posted October 16, 2020 Author Moderator Share Posted October 16, 2020 That sounds like a reduction to me, and, if VA did not follow procedure required to reduce you, you (likely), you should be able to get it back upon appeal. 0 ewsieczka
No appeal. No nothing. Overseas expat veterans do not get a caregiver stipend. I called the WH VA hotine too.

0 ewsieczka
Found out why now. VA Manila cannot conduct home visit inspections to give out the stipend.
0 Sgt.Riker
The VA caregivers program is a sham under the mission act. I’ve been in the system for 40 plus years and been treated at the Baypines VA for the last 6 years. I’ve been receiving 100% since 2006, and just recently been diagnosed with prostrate cancer from agent orange(Vietnam) which right now is another 100%(Housebound). This don’t include my other service connections., so about 5 months ago my other half signed up for this stupid caregivers program., so we go threw all this which was a great big hassle from these people that weren’t too educated to put it lightly to wait another 2 months for a answer. In the meantime I received a .50 cent shoehorn and a .99 cent plastic stocking puller. At that time I told the wifey that we were turned down for the caregivers program. The following week I received the answer stating I did not meet the criteria for the program. Then I smell something fishy about the appeals process with caregivers program. It stated that i have to file my appeal within 60 days of the letter to the patient advocate. It’s a so called block so my appeal won’t be heard in DC but in-house in front of the same people who denied my claim in the first place. Then i called the caregivers Dept. And spoke to a very nasty female and this is what she told me. The caregivers program is only for the physicality handicapped not for veterans who has mentality defected programs or who is mentality challenged like myself. Advice don’t applied until presi Biden or Harris steps in. Semper-Fi
