Another new one for me, a contracted C&P

Rate this question

Question

All,

Another new one for me.  Just got the call from "LHI Care" (?).  All my previous exams have been done at the VA hospital.

The good.  They are scheduling the C&P thirty minutes from my home.  The place doing the exam is the same place where I had my rehab for my plantar fasciitis a few years back.

The bad.  I have never done a contracted exam before (so at least I will know what you Veterans are always talking about).

The ugly.  I am schedule for lower back, spine, shoulder/arm, esophagus and hiatal hernia.  This place had no doctors, just physical therapists, so not too comfortable on the Barrett's Esophagus/Hiatal Hernia part of the exam...

I took a quick search of LHI in Hadit, and see they look like a 50/50 satisfaction rating, LOL.

Any suggestions are appreciated,

Hamslice

I will be studying the associated DBQ's before hand, and taking copies of my medical records with.

John I agree. Sometimes you get out of a C&P exam some amazing twists and turns. Had one and expected maybe a 10%; got a 30% plus an additional 10 for something else. What's the saying of Forest Gump:" life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what to expect. "

Just to close out this topic and a reply to GB's post is appropriate.

My Barrett's, Hiatal and Gerd were denied.  My paravertebral muscle spasm was denied.

My shoulder was increased from 10% to 20%.

My lower back was increased from 20% to 40%.

However, they (VA) added radiculopathy lower extremities, both right and left at 10% each, all on there own, obviously from the C&P exam.  (I don't even know what that is and will have to look it up.)

Two retro deposits have hit the bank already.  3K.

My EED's are what they should be.

I take back most of what I said about the VA trying to deny my increased rating totals, and I do appreciate it when they add conditions present in the C&P exam and medical records.

100%,

Win,

Hamslice

Radiculopathy is peripheral numbness- in your case most likely from an impingement of the sciatic nerve or thereabouts, that extends from your back clear down both legs. Incidentally its one of the longest nerve fibers in the body. You can have one side or the other, but an impingement more often than not affects both extremities to some degree, though not always equally. I have radiculopathy, have had since I was injured (it was an acute trauma thing) and I haven't felt the ends of my toes in almost 20 years. They are in a perpetual state of 'almost awake' like when you get too cold and then start to warm up again but can't quite feel/control your fingers or toes. It can make walking on uneven surfaces lots of fun, sometimes, and Ive had two falls that resulted in a head injury and a broken wrist, respectively. Good times. Now I make the machine go "PING"!

(I AM NOT A RATER- I work the claims BEFORE they are rated, annotating medical evidence in your records, VA and Legal documents,  and DA/DD forms- basically a paralegal/vso/etc except that I also evaluate your records based on Caluza and try to justify and schedule the exams that you go to based on whether or not your records have enough in them to warrant those)
