0 Moderator broncovet Posted August 13, 2023 Moderator Share Posted August 13, 2023 (edited) I dont know how old your kids are, but try here for your best answer: https://www.militaryonesource.mil/military-basics/new-to-the-military/military-id-and-cac-cards-for-military-community/#:~:text=When are dependents eligible for,to have a military ID. After reading some of the link above, yes, it appears like your kids should get id cards, but check the details for your situation. 0 relatively happy camper
I'm curious about the children of a deceased 100% veteran's ID card. Does that allow for the child, who is no longer supported by the veteran, to get a card? Or does that cease when the child reaches 18yo or 26yo, since technically, they are no longer dependent on the veteran? thx
0 Moderator broncovet Posted April 2 Moderator Share Posted April 2 As far as children's ID card, IDK. You can look here for yourself. https://www.va.gov/family-member-benefits/#benefits-for-spouses-dependent. It may or may not be in there. Some times stuff like this is "base policy" and can vary base to base. The peron in charge of the miitary base decides who is let on base, and when, and these id cards are mostly for that..to buy stuff on post. But it may be useful for other things, too. 0 relatively happy camper
Thanks, bronco. I couldn't find out anything about whether they "age" out, but I would think that they probably do.

As far as I know the best place to try to get information about an ID Card would be D.E.E.R.S. Overlook all the Tricare and try to follow the ID Cards information. What do your kids ID cards say? My best guess is that they will also expire. Sometimes, its an exercise in futility to try to figure out "why" VA does stuff. Why do they issue id's for V

It's always good to stay on top of important documents like ID cards, especially if they have an expiration date.
