The contract exams were sent to the VARO and a copy was sent to the VAMC as a 'courtesy' is how it was explained to me. The VA put a stop to this practice and even if you had an exam at the VAMC, it was held for 30 days before it was released to your VAMC medical records for you to view. All of this was done under the guise of speeding up the claims process in order to 'help' veterans. Whether intended or unintended, this hurts us because it took away our ability to review these exams and catch errors before the claims were decided. It also increased the number of claims that had to go to the appeals process only to create backlogs there.

I think my contract c&p examiner was good to me. After the exam the VARO made my left thumb, left index finger, & left little finger secondary service connected. But now I have my appeal on hold because I want that c&p exam before I file anything else!  Thursday will be 8 weeks and I will be calling them again.
