Question

Hi, my VSO said I'll need to go outside the VA for my medical opinion. I've tried all my VA doctors and they denied filing anything out for a service connection case. Does anyone know of doctors in NH that will listen and help? I only have VA doctors. Puts me in a pretty tough spot. Thank you

If you are not working, you can file for SSDI and use one of their specialist medical opinions or you can call them or you can call one of your local lawyers that deal with SSDI claim and ask them for a local doctor that do IMOs/IMEs (INDEPENDENT MEDICAL OPINONS/INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EXAMS). The differences in the opinions are the doctor would/will review your records both in-service and post-service and give his/her medical opinion and the other is that after an exam the doctor would than give his/her medical opinion stating that he/she has examined you and your records to give their opinion.

Yes I work full time and have a great job that works with me on all my disabilities. Very thankful for that. I am looking for an independent doctor now.

Yes- that is always  good advice Pacman- because SSDI provides an independent medical opinion, and

if you fulfull their SSDI criteria -at this link , you can apply on line:

https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/disability/

Also if you ever appllied for VA Voc Rehab and they, Voc Rehab ,stated that your SC (s) make Voc Rehab unfeasable,  this is good evidence for  TDIU P & T.

If you google independent medical opinions and add your state and add specialty to narrrow it down, I am sure some Drs will pop up.

Here is one:

and more:

I usually recommend Dr Bash but I dont know what specific opinion you are seeking.

Others are mentioned here too under a hadit search.

If the IMO/IME doctor is not familar with VA disabiliy claims, they will need to follow the IMO/IME criteria here in the IMO/IME forum, to the letter. They will need all of your VA and private medical records and if a nexus is lacking, they also will need copies of your SMRs and 201 inservice Personnel files.

A good IMO/IME review might be costly but it might might not only help to award a claim, it also might reveal other claims you could make with VA.

It will be the Best comprehensive review you will ever get of all of your disabling issues.

We cant guarantee wjat an independent review will result in.

A vet I helped long ago, when I told him I had found enough in his SMRS and BVA case to warrant a strong IMO/IME and I had prepared my lay medical opinion for the IMO/IME doctor to consider, wanted me to sign a statement that, if he paid a lot of IMO/IME cash but the opinion was not good, I was to reimburse him for the opinion.

I was already fed up with him mfor many reasons but he had a great claim and I certainly would not sign anything except the lay statements I prepared for his doctor. And a letter to VA as below.*

As it happened his private doctor was one of the Best diabetes drs in NY and gave him a free IMO/IME.(I had to ask him to correct the first one he wrote-he forgot the nexus info I had found)

The doctor got mad at me then and also  because I had enclosed his Health Grade rundown , I had paid for myself for the vets claim.

I had to explain to the doctor that the VA had no idea of his expertise and the health grades report included much of his outstanding Curriculum Vitae. His opinion  and expertise would have far more merit than the VA nurse's last C & P exam that again denied the claim.

I dont deal with claims personally anymore-

The veteran won his claim and *also the VA as far as I know , based on a letter I wrote to them myself, did NOT pay his so-called lazy asses lawyers thouands of dollars in legal fees, who didnt do diddly crap for him.The VA has regulations for how to fight improper legal fees.

Thank you Berta. Its funny I checked the link for primeconsultingnh and that DR. is the one who did my shoulder surgery 15 years ago. His specialty has nothing to do with what I'm claiming but its a small world when I saw that. Thanks
