100% TDIU Requesting dental implants - Phoenix

I have full set of loose VA issued dentures (August 2022). Going in this week to see about getting some kind of full set implants or dentures that are held in by implants.

Anyone have any info?

My guess is that no one, who has been recently reading hadit, has had dental implants done by the VA.  

I use the dental, at my VAMC, and its generally very good.  This is probably because of a "shakeup" several years ago, when an aging VA dentist, who should have been retired, did stuff like not bother to wash his hands between patients.  (And other poor hygene practices) which probably led to multiple Veterans getting hep C   https://www.daytondailynews.com/news/dayton-veterans-test-positive-for-hepatitis/DgUIONF0sw5ucivzM4pYiL/

Of course, this is not "just" dental hygene.

After this shakeup, and closing the dental department of my VA down, (along with the very bad publicity VA got with this) the dental department emerged and I think they do a great job now.  

While I cant answer your question about the implants, VA did a great job on other dental practices.  I went to the dentist both BEFORE and AFTER the shakeup.  

We need some more experienced volunteers, and you should go through (this Dental VA implants) and tell us your story, and answer other vets questions on this.

If you got real dental implants (not implanted dentures) it would cost a fortune.  I can't see the VA doing this if you have dentures.  You hear advertisements for implants and what they mean is implanted dentures.  A single implant takes about a year to do from the time you start the implant process until you get a crown on the implant.  They cost about $5000 for each tooth.  Also real implants require quite a bit of surgery and usually a bone graft for each tooth.  I have three real implants and they are very good, but not from the VA.  I would not trust my VA to do anything like that since you need a specialist to do good implants.

About the best I can hope for is 2 implanted posts for each denture, upper and lower with the VA. "Snap On" dentures they are called.
