Travel Mileage Claim Rejected-Status “Fiscal Rescinded”

Hi everyone. I have been filing travel claims for community care referrals that are about 4 hours round trip from my house. Today I noticed that one of them was denied and the status is “fiscal rescinded.”  The website doesn’t tell me what that means other than I can’t appeal. My local travel office is closed on Thursdays “so that they can catch up on claims processing.”  Does anyone know what this status means?  I have been reimbursed for appointments to this community care provider several times in the last few months, so I’m confused.

The only time I have been denied for a travel voucher is when I had a closer Va near me. Anyways I was still given the lower amount of 18 miles. But if you can justify that your care was truly need at Va and they had no other resources to provide then that would be a good reason to appeal. Four hours of driving is in deed a good distance with multiple Vas near. I’m assuming that this was the only provider around. Just curious but what did you go see them for?

Welcome to hadit.  My guess is the VA wants you to meet with a provider "closer to your home" as 4 hours away is pretty long to go to a doctor appointment.  

Of course, this is just a guess.  

I have a family member who wont go to the local va, and instead goes to a va in the next town, about an hour away.  Im not sure if they pay him travel pay or not.  

You may get travel pay for 4 hours one way, "IF" you lived in a place where there were no closer providers, but my guess is that there are doctors who are available much less than 4 hours away.  

I have personally never had a travel pay request denied.  

Some years ago, they asked me how far it was to my va:  I think I estimated 10 miles, which is about right, when you take the hiway.  

But, you can also take the 40 or so traffic lights way that is closer, but takes longer and uses more gas.  

The stopped paying the 10 miles and now its around 6 miles, which is probably the shortest possible way, but which also takes much longer.  

The last thing I got from va was something about "there was a deductable" of 3 trips per month, so I only got travel pay if I went to a va appointment 4 times or more per month.  

Since my travel pay is "literally pennies" because I live so close, I simply dont use travel pay anymore.

Thank you both for the answers. This travel is for community care authorized and referred by the VA to treat a very rare autoimmune disease very similar to multiple sclerosis. The VA referred me to this provider and I am very happy with them because she specializes in this condition. I do have multiple claims in for August, so maybe they are just declining payment on the first one to cover the deductible?

We never know what the VA is up to, I would say to call them when they reopen tomorrow.

To me it sounds as a valid claim because they referred you to a specialist. File that claim and wait on what they decide. I wish you the best of luck and health.

So I am in AL. I have been working with a Air Force veteran who is having the same problem. Do you deal with the Montgomery travel office or Birmingham?

I am going to tell them to go to the travel office in bham and ask the question why you are getting denied.

I had a total knee replacement over a year ago and the hospital insisted that I go via ambiance to the rehab facility. Travel refused to pay because the hospital failed to get prior authorization. I keep on them and they finally paid.

Do not take no for an answer. I am sure there is a time limit to appeal so ask that question. (Should be a year like everything else) I would do an HLR if I do not get the answer you are looking for.
