Va Iu Training Letter 07-01 Updated?
Does anyone know if there's been an update to the VA Training Letter 07-01 that has to do with how the VA processes IU claims? If it's been updated, please provide a link to the new one. I'm curious if VA Training Letter 07-01 is still current or if any changes were made after the May 2006 GAO report that slammed the VA about IU. Thanks, TS Snave

Senator Akaka Takes
http://www.vawatchdog.org/07/nf07/nfOCT07/nf102407-8.htm After that S 2026 fiasco perhaps Akaka-whose pro veterans record has been very good prior to the S 2026 bill- has certainly taken a strong stance against the negative side of this report from Dole-Shalala.

Congressman Filner
from Chas. Kelley- Congressman Filner on SVR radio tonight, 6:30 EST "Sorry late getting this out to folks. Congressman Filner will be on Jerrell Cook’s SVR radio show this evening starting at 6:30 EST for about an hour, I am told. The link to this Internet broadcast is located: http://www.stardustent.com/svr.htm The link is not updated to show Congressman Filner being on but as commented, he will be on for about an hour. We need to call (toll free by the way) and support him in his efforts and if he will keep us informed we can apply pressure to other members of the House and Senate to finally do the right thing. As I c…

ptsd Rated 0% Ptsd
Hey y'all, I am on my second VA decision for PTSD and MDD since April. The C&P in March said I have major depression " which more likely than not began during my service" as an EMT and Navy 8404 Field Medical Tech at Okinawa and Camp Pendleton in the early 1970's. Right after my DRO hearing (where I got the 0%) my VSR filed a new claim (VAFORM 21-4138) for Panic Aattacks ,Anxiety, MDD, and Depression. I wonder if I get a new claim iniation date that will start the clock again? Will I still have my SC for the PTSD dated April 2005 if it is not on the new appeal form? At this point I have made an appointment for an IMO with an ex-VA psychiatri…

Just Received C&p Medical Report. What Do Ya Think?
It is this examiner's opinion that the veteran's major depressive disorder more likely than not had its initial onset during the veteran's troubled childhood. The veteran did experience a significant injury while serving. The injury did lead to lifelong chronic pain and the veteran did continue to experience episodes of depression throughout his adult life. Some of these episodes were/are severe. With regard to the issue of depression being secondary to the service connected left ankle injury, it is this examiner's opinion that the veteran's depression was not caused by his service connected ankle injury. However, the veteran's ankle injury at least as likley as not has b…

Dole-shalala Recommendations
Are any of you concerned about the rush on the Dole-Shalala recommendations? I am very concerned that this may eventually cut off disability benefits for veterans at retirement age, or at least offset SSA benefits. Larry Scott wrote me a few weeks ago saying the recommendations were surely going to sit on the shelf for a very long time, and if ever reviewed again, would be unlikely to get through congressional approval. Now he's changed his mind about that, in light of the developments this week--Bush is fully supporting these recommendations. I realize that Larry's opinion is worth no more than any of ours, but he does seem to keep up with VA behind the scenes. Wh…

Is An Iris Inquiry Noted In Your C-file?
1. When you do an IRIS inquiry from the web and get an email is there a record of that in your C-file? The reason I ask is that I've been instructed by my VSO to ONLY go through them and to NOT contact the VA myself. In the past (before they told me this) I had called the 1-800 number with varying degrees of usefulness and when I got my C-file there were printed records of some (but I don't think all) of my calls. 2. How long does it usually take to get written confirmation (not from IRIS just from the usual paperwork flow) that the VA has gotten your NOD? The first time my VSO sent in an NOD for service connection over a year and a half ago they sent me a veri…

ptsd Save It All From The Va
I realised that my POA in 2003 saw little monetary benefit in my AO claim. They did not consider Nehmer and probably thought all I would receive was a small funeral expense refund. The autopsy was free because Rod was an organ donor and he had to be cremated. I knew VA could not dupplicate the DIC under 1151 I receive with direct SC DIC but I believed they would have to refund to me a very substantial offset to my DIC due to my FTCA settlemnt.NVLSP at first agreed with me and then said they did not think so- I have almost two full filing cabinets on Rods and my claims and am prepared to succeed in direct SC death under one of the three claims I have at the RO al…
