?
I just got off of the phone with the folks on the 1-800 line. They told me that my file had been sent from the rating officer to a doctor for an independent review. Has anyone heard of this before? Should I be concerned about this? I am trying to get my percent raised for right shoulder and gall bladder removal. Also, I am attempting to get service connected for left shoulder secondary to right shoulder and depression secondary to chronic pain. Thanks all! This site and the people on it are great!

While Awaiting For The Va "award Letter' I Get The Shaft
All, I got a VARO SOC from my NOD after 3 years (this is quick!), anyway I don't agree with what the VARO says. Eventhought they increased my feet issues from ) - to 30. I know I have 60 days to file my Form 9 or else I lose. The problem I have is that yes, they did increase me for one of my major issues, but not to the max based on the info I provided. The VA and my SO say it could take 60 + days to get the award letter. So how is this system working, when I am required to submitt a response on the Form 9 in 60 days when the award letter will take 45 - 60 + days to get? Their SOC didn't even address my depression, blood clots, varicouse (sp?) and lov…

ptsd C&p Wednesday
On the 27th of May I went to the VA Med Center in KC because I thought I was having a heart attack. After an exam and heart cather I was taken to KU Med Center for a triple bypass. Prior to this while I was on active duty I had a heart attack and stint (May 05). The bypass happenend within a year after being released back into retirement status. The C&P I suppose is for my MI and increase in PTSD. As a side I was diagnosed with DMII, presumtive for my service in RVN. I don't know if PTSD is primary to MI and heart problems or DMII. I do not have my treatment records for the bypass I guess I could unbottom my shirt and show the scars. I'm a little appreh…

Loss Of Use
Six-I have followed your posts and consider you and expert in this area. I suffer from a service connected right thalamic stroke. As a result of this I have been diagnosed with Dejerine-Roussy syndrome. I will not post the total effects for the post would be to long. My Neuro and PCP have provided statements and medical opinions that the Dejerine-Roussy has caused me to have a complete loss of functional use of the left arm/hand and left leg/foot. I wear as full contact AFO to assist with walking and use a cane. I can not grasp or hold items with the left hand. I currently have an appeal pending for loss of use of the left arm/hand and left leg/foot. My question…

Post Number 500
Wow I finally hit post number 500 and I am still a chief petty officer. If this was an army run site I would have made General by now hahahahahahahahaha. On a serious note I thank Tbird for the opportunity to be a part of such a great veteran family and for providing a site that has provided me with invaluable information and guidance in the processing of my VA claim. I also want to thank my Hadit family for their time, assistance and sometimes bitting their tonuge when my meds are kicking my butt and I get a little testy. Although multitudes have helped me I send a special thanks to guys and gals such as Berta, Pete, Six, and Vike for their providing me with ex…

Awareness.....
I am not sure how to bring this to the attention, and I apologize upfront if I have put it in the wrong section of our great Hadit Forum. For those who do not know....there is Veterans of Modern Warfare, and its a Newly Chartered Organization. It is important to Veterans along all levels. A lot of people believe that the Gulf War may indeed become one of the most recent ugly wars where our veterans will need assistance. It is in essence almost like the Vietnam Veterans Association, etc. in that anyone who served after Aug 2 1990 (1st start of the PG war) until who knows when it will end) are eligible. It supports all reservists or even active duty who are currently se…

Loss Of Use & Aa
Greetings to all, I am helping another veteran with his claim for Aid & Attendence. This veteran was told he was awarded AA when he was rated 100% loss of use of both feet. I looked at his award letter of 2 years ago. Prior to him being granted the Loss of use he was already rated at 90% IU, T&P. The SMC he was awarded was due to a prior service connected disability rated at 60%. I encouraged the veteran to contact our RO and ask point blank am I receiving AA. Well he did that and they told him no that he wasn't receiving AA but SMC. Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a veteran granted AA when he is rated with loss of use of both feet? it only mak…

ptsd Mental Disorders C&p Exam Changed May 1, 2007
I've been gone for several weeks and haven't caught up on the board but in the interim, I have been working on completing the shrink visits for my IMO. I just downloaded a copy of the Mental Disorders C&P exam for him and the VA made a BIG change on May 1, 2007. They added Section G. Effects of the Mental Disorder on Occupational and Social Functioning and then ask the shrink to pick what is, in essence, your rating percentage (using words, not numbers). You can check it out on the VA website: http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/Benefits/exams/disexm37.htm What is the back story here? In a quick search on the internet and a couple of vet sites I cannot find out wh…

(amc) Veterans Appeals Management Center
Hello all, I've been waiting on retro pay now since 3/2007 from a decision from BVA in Washington DC. The decision was for IU back to 93. I am 100% IU from 2004. This issue was remanded to the appeals management center. Along with that issue was an appeal for and increase for a back problem that was 40% and earlier effective date, which I was granted 60% back to March 1993. I know that the VA will cut it off at the time I started getting 100%. But y question is Why does it take almost a near 120 days and I still haven't gotten my money. Has anyone ever went throught this before?

Hearing
Question, Some time within this past year I had a hearing exam at Buffalo VA. Reason was that I had my eardrums blown out by a 4.2 motar being fired by my head in the darkness of the night in Nam. Couldn't hear for three days. No medical attention. Not documented. Having increasing difficulty hearing so the test showed "profound loss of higher freq". Given SC but 0 comp. Recently seemed hearing was becoming worse and had another test done at Buff. VA. Test showed loss of 30db from last test. Applied for increase in rating for SC loss. What chance do I have of receiving an increased rating. In reading the forum I note that some men have to be just about stone cold deaf …

Va Internal Operating Guides - Where Do You Find Them?
Where can I find the VA Internal operating guides? Please provide either web address(es), the page(s) from the Veteran's Benefits Manual (VBM), or the location on the NVLSP Lexius Nexius CD that I'm still trying to figure out how to use. In another post (After June 20, 2007, Disabled Veterans Will Be Able To Hire An Attorney Much Earlier) Ricky mentioned using the VA internal guides but I have never seen one. I am getting ready to work on my actual NOD this week and would like to have access to these VA internal operating guide but don't know how to find them. Also, do you quote these guides in your NOD in the same way you are supposed to quote the VA regulation…
