   I'm not sure if this is the proper place to respond to that article or not, so please correct me if I'm in the wrong spot. While I'm sure this rater had the best intentions in posting this note and was attempting to be helpful, certain parts of that note were very disturbing to me. Specifically, you should all be sure to file any claim that has merit as soon as possible regardless of whether or not you have a pending claim for benefits at that time. You could potentially be throwing away a lot of money by following this adjudicator's advice. 3. ptsd Iris Claim Status Request = Response Time 15 Minutes

   We sent a request to IRIS today asking the claim status for my husbands initial claim. We got a response in 15 minutes. No Kidding!! They said that the file was at the local VA for the C=P exams and they were waiting for it to be sent back. They also said that claims were taking on average 9 to 12 months currently and if complex like ours we may here something in the 18 month range. Also they said to keep sending in any and all info to help make a decision on the claim even current medical from the Va medical centers, especially if you have an increase in symptoms. 4. Starting Over.....

   My husband didn't get any response except for form letters all year from the VA -- now it is my understanding that they will close his case since he died. We never even got the copy of his retirement physical -- or copies of his c-file --or anything we requested last June (just some we are working on it letters). Does that mean I will have to request those items again? and wait and wait and wait? Or can I go to the VARO and see his C-file and get copies of the docs I need? Free

5. Attention Western New York Vets...please Read

   To all... There is a Veterans Cemetery petition going around sponsored first by the VVA #77, and being co-sponsored by the Marine Corps League. The closest Veteran Cemetery is in Bath, New York some 100-120 miles away. Erie County has the 4th Largest Veterans Population in NYS, but we do not have a designated local Veteran Cemetery, to honor our Veterans. It is about 2 1/2 hours away from me, I can attest. 6. C& Pdr. Admits Cause Of Disease Isunknown But Still Opines Against.

   Hi, My hubands claim has just been denied at the appeals management center because of an opinion that the c&p dr. gave. I will explain more about his disease if anyone is interested but right now I am more interested in understanding how we can get the va to use the reasonable doubt doctrine We are claiming that Jim's musculoskeletal disorder is secondary to his sc shrapnel wounds that he got in viet Nam.He is 30 %for those wounds and still has shrapnel wounds in his body. 7. tinnitus Question For Vike 17 And Others In-the-know

   I have a question. I filed a claim for hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, and Menieres Disease. This was all documented by a ENT specialist at the VA Hospital. From the way I read the disability chart for this documented disease, I think I already qualify for 100%. I am going to copy and paste a report I picked up from records at the VA Hospital today. My question is "do you think it would help or hinder my claim?" On one of the reports I sent with my claim specifically identified all of the above including menieres disease. 8. Smc

   Got call today from the DAV informing me that the VA had made an error by not awarding me the L1/2 rate, so he is going to addressed it to them in which I should get back some retro. But what amased me was the conversation I had with him in which he told me that to be careful placing new claims because the VA uses to see if you have had any improvement with yoy health. Just to hear this makes me upset so in other words if my health continues to go down hill, what am I suppossecd to do leave it like that or take any chances. What should I do?

11. ptsd When Two Disabilities Are Combined Into One Rating?

    OK, The VA combined my PTSD with my already 10% for Brain Trauma,Post Concussion Residuals, Left Temporal Lobe, chronic and then added WITH PTSD to it for a combined rating of 50% based on the higher evaluation of the 50% for PTSD. Since I am now at 70% combined rating, does the 50% for PCS/PTSD count as one of the disabilities being 40% or better with a total of a combined rating meeting the 70% threshold? This is what I have right now (Keep in mind the skull loss is in error and NOD submitted, as it should be 50% by itself instead of the errorneous rating of 30%). 13. tdiu What Does "at The Rating Board Mean ?

    I called for a status of claim and was told "You have been waiting a long time 12 + you claim is at the Ratings Board" If you do not hear anything by May call back. Does this mean I am close to getting an answer? The way the VA has handled my claim I assume that they don't rate 100% on the first decision? How long does it take for the other parts of a claim unemployability etc to be added to my claim. Does it go back to the same people who make the original decison ?
