ptsd My C-file -
Col. Dan's newsletter about the PTSD vet's suicide brings up a point important to all of us with claims in process. . . . . . "Note: If you have never reviewed your medical records from the VA, you don't know what you are missing, especially in mental health clinics.... What you say to a doctor, and what he writes down in his notes.... Is like fiction.... One thing for sure if you smoke, the one comment that will consistently appear is one of things you were there for was smoke cessation.... Even tho you may have never asked for it or mentioned it. I highly recommend that every veteran go to the medical records section at the VAMC and ask for a copy of your/th…

Question About Requesting A Copy Of A C-file
Hello all: As my brother has been recieving a NSC Pension for a # of years. We sent off several months ago for a copy of his C-File. Since we haven't received the file yet, should we make another request?? Should we be asking for it by something else?? We did send for his Service Medical Record and received them. Since he is receiving a NSC Pension wouldn't he might have made a claim for something service connected and was denied and was given the pension?? Thanks, Jessie

To Rick54b
Rick - just wanted you and all to know that I am sorry for jumping the gun. Sometimes my disability causes such a reaction, just ask my family. I was childish and should have not taken your post as an attack on me cause it was not. My dementia sometimes makes me think the whole world is out to get me. Bottom line is there is no excuse for my words or actions directed towards you and I offer my sincere apology to you my friend. For those who are wondering what this is about, it is not even worth covering in this post or mentioning the post that it is in reference to. Just take my word, I acted like a child. I know what I am doing in such situations but still c…

Va Scheduling
At my VAMC they started this deal where they send you a reminder letter and then you have to schedule your future appointments. I used to be able to just make an appointment with my Primary Care Doc say six months from now. That does not work anymore. Now I get a reminder letter and I have to try and call the VAMC and make an appointment. It makes everything more difficult and I can't plan things. I got a reminder Friday to see my shrink and when I called I have to wait a month to see him. Before I just made an appointment every three months. Are others suffering from this patient centered scheduling? I know this is not helping me. I am perfectly able to make an …

What Does This Mean? Anyone...
I have a claim for DDD on appeal. I filed my NOD on 28NOV2006 and requested a denovo review on 20DEC2006. I did not request a hearing. I submitted an IMO from Dr. Bash on 05JAN2007. I just called the 800 number and they said they received my new evidence on Jan 26th and my file is with the decision review officer. I know there is no time constraints on the VA for appeals. But, if it's already with the DRO then about how long should it take to get a decision?? Please keep the smart a$$ remarks to yourselves.

Mri Vs Ct Result
MRI vs CT result. Had asked help for Lumbar DDD on my prior post. I did received good advise from many on this board. Thank you. However, more I look through my SMR, more questions comes through my head. Question: 1. Why different wording used? 2. Did my condition got worst? 3. I had recently filed for the va claim and completed C&P exam. No result was given (No ROM). What is the minimum rating should I expect from this. I am being treated with Roxicet, Flexeril, Prednison, Motrin, and Mobic or past 12 months for pain. NO bed rest. CT result: 19 DEC 05 L1-2: There is mild bilateral facet sclerosis. No evidence of disc herniation, central stenosis…

Great Articel On Vso's Vets Get Lawyerd Up Now
Dear Fellow veterans & Friends VAwatchdog wrote quotes from VSO's who wrote to Jim Strickland. It appears what we vets have felt all along. VSO's and VA employees are one of the same. Some VSO's feel its the vets responciblity to get records. Vets get lawyerd up now while you can. Come June the law will pass allowing vets lawyers. Come the month of May the must pass bill to take away vets rights to lawyers may pass. If we ever do get lawyers a huge battel to take it away shortly there after will begin. IF you hire a lawyer now to take effect in June before the bill is passed and taken away or shortly there after while the bill is still in ef…

Widow's Request For Sc For Husband's Death
Trying to assist my mother-in-law. Her husband participated in "operation crossroad" nuke tests "able and baker" He had kidney cancer and it was removed. Subsequently died about a year later. Autopsy stated "multisystem failure". Autopsy also noted that the loss of the cancerous kidney began the downward spiral that resulted in his death. It noted that everything began with his remaining kidney not being able to assume the load of the lost kidney. He had never asked for service connection for anything from the VA. She now is unable to keep her meager house warm without family assistance. My questions: Isn't kidney cancer persumed service connec…

hypertension Second Set Of C&p Examinations Scheduled By Va
I have been helping Vet with his claim. All has appeared to be going smoothly ( except the delay--claim started in Oct. 2005 ). The initial claim was for PTSD and hearing loss. After submitting the claim in October 2005, the Vet received a C&P examination on 23 Dec. 05. The Vet attended and received an examination that seem to indicate a finding of service connected PTSD ( I 'am enclosing some Quotes from the report in a few sentences ). Additionaly he has already received hearing aides for his hearing loss, even though he has not received ANY disability rating. He is also being treated for PTSD ( meds, therpy, etc...). Vet also is treated for a number of other…
