  1. We are so very sorry to hear of this hero's death. May his family find peace and serenity in their memories and may God walk closer to them in this dark hour.
  2. Do you have a POA? The American Legion was ours and they have software that went into the system and he read it off to us about a week ahead of when it finally arrived. We were thrilled with our results and the stress of not knowing was replaced with big smiles. Good luck!! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
  3. Thank you, Stillhere. We try hard to follow doctors' orders and are successful most of the time. It is good to hear of your stepfather's long life. My husband had his first MI at 43...what a shocker that was! Bypass X3 in '96 and stents in 2008 have kept him going and he takes a handful of medicine, twice a day. Congestive heart disease is a biggie for him and we are watchful of edema and lung problems. If you are awaiting a claim I hope your wait is short. Good luck.
  4. Hawkfire27 and evandc, Reporting results of my husband's claim.....100%, P&T, based on CHD. The retro goes back to 2004. We are pleased with the decision. Thanks for your input.
  5. Thanks for the well wishes and a happy dance from our Hadit friends. When my husband filed his claim in 2004 for a surgical scar that drained (from an operation in VN), his private doctor detailed his CAD, Grave's Disease, and skin problems, as being in his opinion, "related to exposure to Agent Orange," we had no idea we would ever file another claim. Imagine our surprise when a friend suggested my husband might have a claim, due to AO presumptives. A visit to a service representative produced a simple claim, a C&P, and this favorable decision. Sites like this one have helped us get through the stressful times and we have gained much knowledge from fellow vets and their spouses. I'm sorry I didn't know about them before we filed as DMII and PN have caused minor problems for some time. I don't know if we will file another claim at this time. Best wishes to all of you!
  6. Thanks, it will make these last three months very forgetable!
  7. Yes, our check was direct deposited yesterday. It was a first for us so I can't speak from experience.
  8. Our wait is over. My husband was rated at 100%, P&T, back to 2004 and the check has been deposited in our bank. Thanks for the support of fellow vets. We wish quick decisions for all of you.
  9. My husband's AO IHD claim is finally over. The check was Direct Deposited today and going back to 2004, it was significant! We are pleased and are ready to get back to our normal lifestyle. Good luck to all of you still waiting.....don't give up!! Thanks for the support from the Hadit family.
  10. Peggy said today that our letter was mailed yesterday from St. Petersburg. Like you, we will be waiting for the mailman but the stress level has diminished tremendously, huh? Check hasn't been deposited yet either...
  11. Our claim went to notification last week and the lady at the VA called Saturday to verify information she needed and she said our letter would be here in a week....check may be in bank before then... Good luck to you!!
  12. He had 10% for scarring from surgery in VN so this is quite a jolt to us. Hope we get the letter explaining things soon. We have so many questions. Thanks for the kind words.
  13. Called our POA today and was told we will be receiving a letter in a few days granting my husband 100% for IHD, P&T, and 30% for scarring, retroactive to 2004. He filed in August, 2010. This came from the St. Petersburg office. We are thrilled and want to thank all of you for the support and knowledge received here.
  14. It can't be much longer now. It must be so very frustrating for you. My vet's claim for IHD is only 6 months old so we'll just wait them out too. Let us know when that decision is made! Thank you for your service. jachay
  15. Thanks, evan and hawk. This is a difficult one. The chronic CHF is the key, I think, but don't know how they will rate it. I'll let you know when we get the outcome.
  16. Hello everyone, newby here but learning fast. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences. My question deals with my husband's IHD/AO/Nehmer claim. In the rating tables, it states: 7005 Arteriosclerotic heart disease (Coronary artery disease): With documented coronary artery disease resulting in: Chronic congestive heart failure, or; workload of 3 METs or less results in dyspnea, fatigue, angina, dizziness, or syncope, or; left ventricular dysfunction with an ejection fraction of less than 30.....100% He has Chronic Congestive Heart Failure, but due to bypass surgery in 1996 and stents in 2008, he was given an Echo for a METS number. He was asked about dyspenea, fatigue, angina, dizzinesss, etc, in 2006 by the technician doing the last treadmill test he has had. His C&P shows a guess of 5 METS. His ETS is estimated at 55. He had his first heart attack at age 43, in 1989, and a second one 10 years later. He served two tours in VN from 1968-1971. He still works two days a week as a security guard. This is a sedentary job where he presses a button and opens a gate for vehicles....nothing physical.... My question is, does the 5 METS and his job prevent him from being awarded 100%? Thanks for your help. Jachay
  17. Vetslady, My husband has Grave's Disease that we believe is because of AO but we have not filed anything on it yet. Here is an article that provided information for us and the site may have info that you can use. http://www.endocrinetoday.com/view.aspx?rid=68470 Good luck. Jachay
