  1. Congrats 60% is an excellent start.
  2. broncovet I was afraid of that my treating VA Psychologist diagnosed me with PTSD, and the Psychologist doing the c&p diagnosed me with PTSD. Two private Psychiatrist treated and diagnosed me with PTSD in the past, my VA Psychiatrist diagnosed me with major depression/anxiety R/O ptsd he did however cosign the dx of ptsd by my current VA Psychologist. However as you stated you never know what the VA will pull out of thin air to use as an excuse. If they were forced to follow there own rules things would run so much smoother. below is what she listed which if I get rated points to 30% [X] Occupational and social impairment with occasional decrease in work efficiency and intermittent periods of inability to perform occupational tasks, although generally functioning satisfactorily, with normal routine behavior, self-care and conversation
  3. Below are some of the examiners notes from my PTSD C&P. I would like get opinions on the probability of a service connection. I will say (with limited knowledge) that it looks like 30% but who knows what the rater will do. My name and Doctors Names removed Name of patient/Veteran: SECTION I: ---------- 1. Diagnostic Summary --------------------- Does the Veteran have a diagnosis of PTSD that conforms to DSM-5 criteria based on today's evaluation? [X] Yes [ ] No ICD code: 309.81 2. Current Diagnoses -------------------- a. Mental Disorder Diagnosis #1: Posttraumatic Stress Disorder ICD code: 309.81 Comments, if any: During the present MH C&P exam, the veteran described stressors meeting criterion A for a diagnosis of PTSD based on his report of combat-related stressors related to fear of hostile military or terrorist activity during his deployment in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Mr.xxxx described intrusion symptoms (primarily distress and physical reactions to cues/triggers of traumatic events as well as nightmares), avoidance symptoms, xxxxxxxxxx CONFIDENTIAL Page 5 of 101 negative alterations in cognitions and mood associated with traumatic events, and arousal / reactivity associated with traumatic events. Therefore, full criteria were met for a diagnosis of PTSD at this time.Of note, the veteran was recently administered the Clinician Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5 (CAPS) during an individual therapy appointment on 08/06/2015 at the xxxx II CBOC. Mr. xxxxxx denied experiencing trauma other than combat-related and was assessed for combat-related PTSD. Dr.xxxxxx, the provider, wrote that "Results from administration of the CAPS indicate that Mr.xxxxx currently meets criteria for PTSD, chronic. Mr. xxxxx appears to experience more generalized anxiety than is typical of PTSD diagnosis. This generalized anxiety may become an additional or supplemented focus of treatment." Mr.xxxx is also receiving mental health treatment from psychiatrist Dr.xxxxxx at the xxxx II CBOC and is prescribed psychotropic medications to treat sleep problems, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Recent treatment notes document that his current medication regimen is effective. A diagnosis of rule out PTSD has been given by Dr.xxx, as well as Unspecified Anxiety Disorder and MDD, recurrent, in remission on meds. Due to the fact there are no records to suggest the veteran had symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder prior to his military service (presumption of soundness), as well as the veteran's self-report that his symptoms started in reaction to his experiences while deployed to Desert Shield/Desert Storm, it is this examiner's opinion it is at least as likely not (50/50 probability) that symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder were caused by or the result of combat related activities during his military service. Although treatment records document a history of problems related to alcohol use and Mr.xxxxxx has, at times, acknowledged having alcohol-related problems per records, the veteran denied current use of alcohol since starting psychiatric medications. He denied recent excessive alcohol use with the exception of one night after his wife left in 2013. Thus, there is no current evidence that criteria have been met for an Alcohol Use Disorder at this time. Past treatment records also document a history of other mental disorder diagnoses, including major depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorder, and personality disorder. At the time of the present MH C&P exam, the veteran did not report or describe mental health symptoms consistent with any other mental disorder diagnosis besides PTSD. 4. Occupational and social impairment ------------------------------------- a. Which of the following best summarizes the Veteran's level of occupational and social impairment with regards to all mental diagnoses? (Check only one) [X] Occupational and social impairment with occasional decrease in work efficiency and intermittent periods of inability to perform occupational tasks, although generally functioning satisfactorily, with normal routine behavior, self-care and conversation b. For the indicated level of occupational and social impairment, is it possible to differentiate what portion of the occupational and social impairment indicated above is caused by each mental disorder? [ ] Yes [ ] No [X] No other mental disorder has been diagnosed c. If a diagnosis of TBI exists, is it possible to differentiate what portion of the occupational and social impairment indicated above is caused by the TBI? [ ] Yes [ ] No [X] No diag
  4. Thanks for the info John999 I hope that's the case
  5. yes I am already at 10 percent on my right knee and 0 percent on my left.
  6. I had an exam for headaches, sinuses and both knees. The knee issues were both for increase from 0 and 10 percent. The Doctor never physically examined me for my sinuses at all, he also asked a just a few questions concerning the dates my headaches and sinus problems began. The knee examinations were over in less than a minute. The doctor had me hold onto a table and bend my right knee and bend my left knee. The doctors simply mentioned GW vets are given the benefit of the doubt concerning sinus and headaches as part of GWI not mention of my knees at all. I decide to leave well enough alone thanked him and left.
  7. KYvet I was in the exam same situation the psychatrist didnt really want to state I had PTSD he offically diagnoised me with Anxiety disorder NOS and major Depression. For months he would say I had symptoms of PTSD but wouldn't put that on paper. Finally he stated in my notes that I might have ptsd and sent me to a psychologist who stated I have PTSD chronic. The VA also said I had a Personality Disorder which he verbally told me was BS but he wouldn't refute the personality disorder dx in his notes. It seems to me these folks will never note anything that contradicts what a nother MH doc states no matter how ridiculous the DX. Hang in there man sooner or later you will get a Doc with a backbone.
  8. I was diagnosed with a personality disorder in 2005 during a C&P exam (GAF 42), and again in 2012 during a c&p (GAF51) I was diagnosed with Major Depression and Anxiety by my VA Psychiatrist in late 2013. After almost two years of medication he decided that I might have PTSD and sent me to a VA Psychologist (who he said had a lot of experience dealing with Vets with PTSD). After two visits and some diagnostic testing the Psychologist stated in the notes of myhealthvet that I met the criteria for PTSD chronic and would be treating me for PTSD. I have been diagnosed by three different private Psychiatrist since 2005, and treated for PTSD at a VET center and the VA ignored all of those diagnoses. I was diagnosed with PTSD by the VA Psychologist on 8/6/2015 I was given an C&P today (8/11/2015) lets see if the VA believes there own diagnosis.
  9. you are right Bionoce I enlisted the help of my Congressman when I got my first claim.People told me it would not help but one week after he made contact with the VA I had a c&P two weeks later I had an award letter. I signed a release letter for the Congressman today and shot Bob a email outlining the road blocks I have had concerning being treated for ptsd. Never know until you try right?
  10. Thanks man just like all things with the VA if you fight long and hard enough they will eventually run into the right exaimnier.lol
  11. No doubt the personality disorder dx is BS the VA knows it
  12. I brought my records with me and showed her both diagnosis in fact in 2005 I had a private psychiatris own owned his own practice and actually worked at the VA she contacted him and he informed her that he would have gave me a dx of ptsd if he had more information at the time. The aformentioned is in the denial letter???? I am only 40% percent service connected so Im pretty sure I don't qualify for SSDI
  13. wow congrats its hard to belive someone in that position would respond to an email or even have his staff do so especially when I can even get a VRE consular to email or call me back.lol
  14. thought about that bionoce but Im 5 11 inches tall and 252lbs I was a competitive bodybuilder for a number of years even at 46 Im still pretty muscular and lean. The last thing I need to accidentally scare a doctor by raising my voice or using foul language that would simply give them more ammunition concerning the bogus personality disorder dx. Its really ashamed though because if you look healthy the VA will use it aganist as the examiner did in the last denial letter when she stated I claimed I walk and do push ups in my garage however "he looks like a bodybuilder" as if that should be used to determine that I do have a personality disorder. lol In every set of notes I have medical or otherwise my build which is largely a genetic gift from my father comes up its just ridiculous.
  15. Can you scan and attach here the last denial you received for the PTSD? ( we need to read the Reasons and Bases part and the Evidence list. (Cover C file number, name. address prior to scanning) the link will take you to the last denial I received thanks for any insight you can offer https://www.dropbox.com/s/0qd6f8719r1bgqp/Scan%201.pdf?dl=0
  16. It is possible with the stressor, unless VA has questioned that, you could claim the MDD and/or a generalized anxiety disorder as due to your service. Berta I was thinking the same but wouldn't I need my VA doc to create a nexus? I am also service connected for IBS 30% and 10% arthritis in my right knee, and 0% percent left knee strain
  17. Yes I have a CAR on my DD214 yes my stressor put me in close proimity to hostile fire I was a Marine Grunt and in the Persian Gulf for 7 months we received direct fire missile fire for every night for a week. Took prisoners and cleared minefields and breeched the minefields during the start of the Ground War.
  18. Since the 2005 denial you received, the PTSD regulations changed and VA will not accept any private doctor's diagnosis of PTSD WOW I had no idea that was the case this makes it very diffucult thanks for the info. Thanks Berta yes he is treating me with Meds for MDD Duloxentine Zolpidem Diazepam (dangerous and addictive stuff I use it only when things are really bad)
  19. Got a email from my Vocab consular stating the reason for me not getting a subsistence for the last three months was due to a migration from one system to process Vocab payments to another . Just an FYI if any of you guys are waiting also
  20. Long story short I filed for ptsd in 2004 and was denied in 2005. The doc that did my C&P stated I had a personality disorder and a she gave me a GAF of 38 even though I was working everyday in Corp enviroment for 6 years prior to the C&P lol . I filed again in 2012 for PTSD after getting a DX by two private docs stating I have ptsd. The VA stood by its findings again in 2014 stating I had a personality disorder. The VA basically stated due to the fact that I got into a fight with another Marine when I was a private and I got a divorce two years later I must have had a personality disorder prior to me entering the service. The really nutty thing is the doc that stated I had a personality disorder in 2005 said I had a normal childhood with no history of abuse of any kind (confused yet?) I was discharged honorably on top of it all. I saw combat in Desert Storm as a grunt I have a documented stressor I have been on meds since 2005 (private doctors) In 2014 I was granted 30% IBS 10% arthritis right knee and 0% left knee. Recently my VA mental health doc stated I have MDD he stated verbally to me that I didn't and never have had personality disorder. I asked him to state that in the med records and he will not although he is treating me for MDD and anxiety. It seems to me the guy knows I have PTSD but doesn't want to state it in my records as it would contradict the other doc DX of personality disorder. I will never be treated for ptsd so the chance of me getting better are zero. How do I get these guys to wake the hell up and do the right thing?
  21. I know this is old but thought I would respond just in case some else searches . I was given the option to have the VA send me a laptop and printer or make a request for a specific machine and justify my choice or buy the laptop myself and request reimbursement. I was informed that the limit was 1500 for a laptop and printer so I bought a MacBook Pro 13in with retina display. The VRE just had me email him the receipt waiting for a check now. 22. Thanks ArNG11 I think you are right con concerning the depression over the ptsd. The thing that gets me is I have a documented stressor combat action and have been diagnosed but the VA is sticking by the Personality disorder. Do you know if I need to claim the depression as secondary to my physical issues?
  23. I had my screen and was approved for funding the same day. The assessment I was able to do at home by going to htttps://vetsuccess.careerscope.net. and writing out a short paragraph after going to onet (o*net).
  24. Just to dig this up one more time Can I file a claim for depression instead of ptsd. My VA doc is treating me for depression and anxiety so it seems that would be the easiest route if its even a possibility. I'm currently SC at %10 for my right knee and %30 IBS.
