  1. I tried to be very cautious with not going all out with issues, since I figured I would get denied and even downgraded. So, many years passed with out any treatment for my foot. The only real saving grace from that was the fact that the VA had treated my foot quite extensively to the point of surgery. I turned that down since I had no idea what would happen and how would I be able to support my family while laid up from surgery.

So when I recently filed my claim for foot condition to include plantar fasciitis, I mailed off a big pack of VA sourced and created treatment records. I am still waiting for the C&P to be scheduled.

I go on Monday the 13th for the EMG. I will keep you posted.

  2. It would help immensely if you would upload the decisions and delete any privat einfo like SSN, name, etc.

I would also take all the evidence you have from in service, etc. and have a highly regarded IMO or if your private doc has the proper impressive credentials write you up a good imo and a dbq that specifically links all of that stuff to an in service event. but copies of the decision letters, all of them would be extremely helpful. I know it seems like a "i already told you what they said" sort of thing, but folks like Berta with all her experience are often able to divine out the actual reasoning from the va legal mumbo jumbo.

cuz Berta is vastly superior and far more knowledgeable than most VA employees.!

  3. Here's what I know, Fat. My father retired in 1992, after 24 years, starting with a field trip to some backwoods South East Asian country. About a year after he retired his VA comp started up at 70%. But was later reduced to 60 by the VA, apparantly they had made an error, or so they said. At that time the concurrent recept issue was in effect, so he was losing a large chunk of his VA to comp for his retirement. I believe now he is receiving the full 100% of his VA, since they corrected the concurrent recept penalty.

As for working as a 100% SCD Vet, my twin brother was until he got hurt on the job. He is now receiving SSD in addition to his VA comp. He can physically do sit down jobs only.

    Hope this answers your questions.

  4. I agree with you whole heartedly. I recently had to provide yet another copy of my DD-214 to the VA, since they don't share amongst themselves. I've been in their system since July of '98, and I still have to provide copies of my DD-214???

Like you said, just push a button on the computer and get the ball rolling, files shared, emails sent and so on and so forth.

  5. Lynn,

You might need to email the undersecretary of VA, allison.hickey@va.gov, and explain to her what you've been telling us.

As for lawers, Chris Attig is one of the best, and he is a disabled Veteran as well.

Your mother in law must be some awesome broad, to be going with you to your appointments. I go by myself, as I don't have anyone I can depend on for that. My wife thinks I am wasting my time... and doesn't support me.

  6. Lynn,

I hope you can hold on for one more day. I am so sorry that you had to go through that after everything else. Seems no one in charge has a clue why Veterans keep killing themselves is ever increasing numbers. Stupid crap like they just put you through is certainly one of the reasons.

I will be praying for you. I can't even begin to feel or know or understand what you've been through. But my heart hurts for you.

  7. Spearhead91,

I just try to go one day at a time. I don't have the luxury of even working on my claim. Between work and family I barely have the energy or brain cells to give to this. I can't sit up straight because my back cramps up. I can slouch all I want. I keep my orthotics in my work shoes or I end up forgetting them. Which does me no good, since I wear them 50 hrs a week. I'm having issues with my feet, for which I have an active claim on my left foot. A secondary claim on the right will follow.

I have deep anxiety that makes it so hard to even try. For so long I thought I had no options except a pine box 6ft under. That choice is always on my mind, a voice that is always there. And living with pain for so long has been hard too.

  8. I only recently been experiencing the foot drop issue, maybe a few years or so. It usually comes in the later part of the day, if I've been on my feet all day, like at work. I get a numb spot on the top of my L foot, about 4" in diameter, then my foot doesn't want to come up as high or in time, when I'm walking. It feels like it's being lazy, and makes me trip over my toes.

The podiatrist scheduled me for the emg when I told him this, last week. So, I am hoping to use this to bolster my sciatica claim and DDD.

  9. Talon,

Was it a "Bavarian Barking Spider"? Lol. We have Copperheads here, too. Saw one in the creek 50 yds from the house, the other year. Got a Garter snake, too, keeps all them noisy crickets away by eating them. Fortunately the Eastern Diamondback is not common in my area of PA.

My DD-214 only reflects the duty station I EAS'd from.
