Jimmer got a reaction from Vync in PTSD and Wife
When I was married I had to have major surgery for a "detached retina" of the left eye, which is service connected.  She had been very difficult,  saying my problems were not as bad as I stated.  I told her  am not looking for sympathy, just telling it like it is.  After the surgery, I had four different types of drops to put in my left eye.  When I asked her for help with the drops she said "I didn't get married to be a xxxxxxx nursemaid", and threw the bottles across the room (lucky the were plastic) and stormed out of the house.  The next day I changed the locks, filed for divorce, and never looked back.    I did get help from the VA and other doctors for my eye.

Jimmer got a reaction from Vync in DRO Hearing 3/21/2016
Flores 97, Buck52, Navy4life, and Vync,  Thank you for providing me a wealth of information, concerning my DRO meeting next Monday.  I am in the process of organizing my information, going over the nexus letters,  DBQ and medical journals.  You gave me a good insight on what to expect at the hearing.  The C & P doctor told me he was going to deny my claims, but then told me I had a really good chance of winning on appeal.  Go figure.  Thanks again, for the information, even tho the hearing is a week away, I am not going to wait until the list minute. to be organized.

iceturkee, I did receive information on Chapter 35 benefits, and an application as well.  Do they, the VA , send out a letter telling you that you are permanent and total?  I can't seem to find that saying in my packet.  They have also sent me the application to secure a Commissary Card, and CHAMPVA benefits, and a bunch of other benefits as well.  They indicated I should contact the state to see if their is any reduction or elimination of state fees, property taxes, licenses, etc.

Hi Guys, I am hoping you can give me answer to my IU claim.  I recently was award 50% for PTSD, along with 60% for my eyes (particularly my left eye) and was bumped to 80%.  I was sent the forms to apply for IU.  I went to my eye doctor (who is board certified) and asked him to fill out another  "nexus "letter.  He is very familiar with the VA procedures, having worked at a navel hospital in the west.  He was surprised and said "aren't you IU already".  I told him no, that the V.A. had rated me 60%  for my eyes he nearly fell on the floor. He said "this is wrong, you should be at least 80%, they really screwed up".  So he write me two letters,  to include in the package for IU.  That was December 11, 2015.  I received the BBE January 9, 2016, stating they rating me to 100%.  They also said the following (and I quote)  "A clear and mistakable error (CUE) is found in the evaluation of bilateral macular degeneration and bilateral pseudophakia, rated as residuals of left eye injury, and a increase of 80% is established December 12, 2014."  A VSO person told me in 17 years he never seen where the VA openly admitted to a CUE.  He said I should "frame the letter".   Will I receive retro pay from the date as specified.  The first page says $2,906.83 ( I have no dependents) states as of Jan. 1, 2015.    Thanks for your input, and all your help.  I speak for others, we would be lost without your guidance and input

broncovet, Thanks for the reply .  My paper work it says  "your overall rating  is 80% effective December 12, 2014,  and the became 90% effective,  April 25, 2015, and we are paying you as the 100 % rate with IU from December 24, 2014".  I do have three other claims which I am working on .    I should receive retro pay as well,  correct ? Thanks, Jimmer

Jimmer got a reaction from ArNG11 in V.A. disability Decision
rootbeer22,  You are exactly right.  I had contacted Ms. Hickey in June 2015, because I felt the V.A. was "stonewalling" me on my lung/back issue, particularly the lung, because it is a biggie.  I am at 80%, and this one alone (lung) is equal to that or higher.  A  V.A. manager called me about two days after I submitted the e-mail to Ms. Hickey, saying he had is "butt chewed" by Ms. Hickey office.  A day later a Ratings Officer called me, and told me she was going to work on my case directly, and it would be expedited as quickly as possible.

Georgia Papa & ArNG11, I completely agree with you.   Ms. Hickey contacted my Phoenix, Az., VA office, and a Rating Officer contacted me.  She  said they had no information or records from my doctors, so that is why the first C & P doctor denied it.  I told her I had the information available.  She said if my doctors provided "nexus" letters, filled out the DBQ forms and another DBQ medical opinion forms that I would NOT need another C & P exam.  I provided all that to her.  I had had a lung test done, and my doctors diagnosis matched the V.A. doctor diagnosis, and the test percentages were exactly the same.  I was called for this C & P exam, and when I arrived a 9:00 a.m., the C& P doctor said he arrive early "to look at my files".  But yet when I asked him some questions, pertaining  some information in the files he said "yes, yes it's all there", and dismissed my questions.  He really didn't do an exam, looked at my back, and said "boy, your in bad shape".  He then began  to tell me how he was "sought after by the V.A.", and was considered their top doctor that the other doctors "looked up to him", at the V.A.   He told me right away that he was going to write "less likely then not", then said   "you should appeal, because you do have a strong case, for the appeal board".
