I am glad to hear there is a chance for them to pay for it. I dont really ever see myself working anymore due to my disabilities but my mind works for the most part. I am 36 and need to keep busy doing somethiing and school seems to be helping me with my depression and keeping my thought s on school and not other deamons.

I agree with everyone below and find them to be great for vets. I wish I did more research, but I am attending Capella and love it. I have no problems getting items needed and things are running smoothly. I feel it is a personal preferance and what you would like to study to make a determing factor. Best of luck...

Bonzai,
I went to the SSD office and got the documents. (RFC)(CE). Thank you all for the advice and good vibes. I looked into the E-benefits and they have the documents listed as recieved. Thanks for the uplift Pete.
Will be in touch and hope to be posting in the success section next.....
Thank you all for the comments, I need to stay positive about it. I sent the VA the SSD award letter stating I was totally disabled effective from my discharge date (2 years ago) I signed the forms for the VA to obtain whatever paper work from SS. I just saw on the C&P exam and it stated I can work some jobs so I took that and thought I might get denied based on the C&P. Just nervous, thanks again.

I had a fusion done two years ago when I was 34. It caused additional nerve pain and chronic pain in general. I claimed secondary depression a year later and recieved 50% for it. I filed for SSD about 7 months ago and got approved soley on my service connected issues. All your disabilities will add up and aid you in your success. I applied for TDIU and have not heard back about the decision. I have learned everything on this site and cant thank you all enough for the great guidence and hope. I just sent a statement in support of claim for the depression issue and they set up a C&P. Stay positive and keep asking questions, you will be ok.

I can only base it off my own paperwork but from reading the forum the rating is based of your doc notes and the gaf number can change throughout the day. I recieved 50% with gaf scores of 50 and 55. But like I said I think they base things off of your doc notes, im guessing your in the 30% range but like I said you never know.

Do you know your Gaf score? How often do you see your mental doc?
-
You know I called and the Social Security department said that there was not doctor written report by the SS administration. I asked "dont you guys write some type of form or report?" They said no and they basically based their decision off of my service medical records.. I went to a Social Security doc and had exams so I dont get how they did not write a report. Maybe they will for the VA, hopefully

Thanks for the info..

Yes,
SSD was granted with service connected disabilities only. What is BVA?
Thanks
Pete
Are you receiing SSD for service connected conditions. You may have to appeal the decion. The RO is making it difficult for you.
You need to get it to the BVA if denied.
That is where legal precedence takes over in a claim.

I was wondering how many vets got approved for SSD and disaproved for IU. The SSD stated they based their findings off of my service connected disabilities only. I had a C&P and have recieved the copies and they say I can perform some work. I am currently 90%
40 IVDS
50 Major Depressive Disorder with panic attacks
40 Bladder dysfunction
10 tinnnitis
10 Gerd
10 Carpital Tunnel
I have not been dissaproved for IU yet but after reading the C&P reports it appears I will be denied. What you think?
-
I got approved for SSD in 2 months and I am now trying to get awarded IU. I called the SS department and they told me they based their decision off of my military medical paperwork. So we will see about IU, fingers crossed...

I was told that you cant make a claim for chronic pain. only an increase for your service connection injury. This to me is a crack in the system?
-
I am 36 not 74. not sure where that came from.
-
Am I missing something here? What is everyone talking about?
-
Sorry it took so long to reply. I remember the denial saying that there was nothing in my files saying i cannot work due to my disablities. I was awarded 50% for My depression and that pushed me up to 90%. I am in the process of filing for IU again. I was awarded SSD and sent them a copy of that letter as well. My C and P is tomarrow so we will see.

I hope you hear from them very soon as you deserve a more than fair chance.
I was MI in the Army from 1979 to 1989 with a TS SBIG W/SCI then I came down with schizophrenic/PTSD they taking away my clearance for and put me on KP for six months intill my ets date came then I went to the VA hosp near by and sing up with DAV that was back in Feb 1990 for ten yrs I was off meds and no moeny work over twenty jobs just to be told get loss and tried to kill my shelf three time before then on the fourth my brother and his wife taking me in and got me on SSDI were i was told i had my disorders that was Nov 2000 been on meds from then on. I am at 30% I am trying to get my TDIU for a 100% i been in the nut hosp three time in that past ten yrs 1990 to 2000 I had two pet scanned showing my GAF in about 31%(what that?) before i join the Army i was tested for a IQ. I have a IQ of 136 and ask if i want to go to west point by my Co i was a PVT2/E-2 that was 1980.
I been on SSDI from 2002 on and hoping some one can tell me the same about tdiu if so will be ably to get it and will they go back to my started date of feb 1990?
-
I filed on the first for TDIU and recieved a call this afternoon to set up my exams. Set up on the 20th, that is the fast. Hope it is a good sign..

I was originally SC for 80%. I put in a claim for TDIU at that time and was denied. The one year time period has passed. I put a claim in for depression and got 50% which pushed me up to 90%. I was awarded SSD baised off of my SC disablities. they dated it back from my discharge the same time I got my 80% rating. Will it be to late to file for this? Will this help me with the TDIU chances? I filled out the TDIU paperwork and sent it in with the SSD award letter. I am pretty sure I asked this before but just wanted to see if anyone else had the same expirience.
IVDS-40%
Bladder-40%
Tinnitus-10%
Gerd-10%
Cubital Tunnel-10%
Sciatica-10%
Major depression-50%

A true hero, thank you all for helping others. It is reading things like this that brings a smile to my face
-
Thank you for the advice. I filed the paperwork and also sent in the SSD aproval letter dated back of my discharge. Thanks again.
-
I am 90% SC and got SSD. The VA paperwork does not state that I cannot work but the SSD says I cannot. This is interesting how one can be easy to get and the other is harder. Just apply, im sure it should be in your favor.
-
As long as you dont have a dishonorable your fine as far as benefits.
-
I filed for TDIU and sent them a copy of my SSD letter stating I was approved and considerd disabled since my military discharge. I dont know what the outcome will be, but just like many others I have my fingerss crossed.
Yea !
