  1. Sometimes the picture title can make the difference. The name of this picture was Snakes_2.jpg, and the picture would not load. I renamed the picture Snakes2.jpg, taking the under score out, and then uploading it.

    post-167-1272045977_thumb.jpg

BTW, anybody know what kind of snakes these are? They are hanging around my back porch all the time.

Sledge, I am only taking the meds my VA psych and PCP has put me on. I did have a blow-out over the week-end. My excuse me comment was avoidance.

    Stretch:

This one looks the closet to what you've got to me:

    The plain-bellied Watersnake

    http://www.herpsofarkansas.com/Snake/Nerod...me=2C3V6907.jpg

    Description:

"The general coloration of the Plain-bellied Watersnake can be brown, green, or gray. In Arkansas, the belly color is a plain yellow or cream. Like other nonvenomous watersnakes, it has several dark, vertical lines that outline the upper lip scales. The scales are strongly keeled and the anal plate is divided.

Two subspecies, the Yellow-bellied Watersnake (N. e. flavigaster) and Blotched Watersnake (N. e. transversa), occur in the state. Adults of the Yellow-bellied subspecies usually have a plain-colored back, whereas adults of the Blotched subspecies usually retain more of a juvenile patterning into adulthood. Patterned adults have a series of faint, light colored crossbars bordered in black that run along the backbone. The intergrade zone between these two subspecies in Arkansas is not clearly established.

This species can be found living concurrently with other species of watersnakes in and around lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, and drainage ditches. It seems to be more at home in still waters. Due to its behavior, it prefers trees along the edges of waters."

I also checked out the Graham's Crayfish snake but it doesn't have the dark lines radiating down from the eye.

  3. Now that I've read each and every submission from 4/16/10 I would like to make the following comment:

My heart goes out to all veterans, and their families, that are dealing with Parkinson's disease. It's such a horrendous disease. It's wonderful to see how the Parkinson's community has come together to push for more clear definitions of the disease so that our veterans and their families can get the attention & care they deserve.

  4. I've been checking regulations.gov every 2-3 days to read comments on the AO proposed regs. Amazed to see the site has jumped from 4 pages of comments to 9 pages in 1 day! Now I have to dig thru all of them! Up to this date, most all have been constructive.

  5. Ha Ha. Call the Office. Try it you have to wait to talk to an operator and the normal hold time is number 43 so they ask you to leave a message and someone will call you back. The only way to talk to those lugnuts is to go to the VA.

They truly ignore us, don't they? I guess they figure we'll dry up and fly away! Had to laugh because I figured I'd get a response similar to yours! Heck, I'm just going to put C's info on it, the CBOC's address and appointment date on it and mail it in. We'll see what happens.

  6. I am beginning to get a "sense", a "feel", maybe a premonition....................but, after having listened to, shall we say, more than ONE veteran complain about the forms (yes, Kathy, you are not alone...............), and THEN having been exposed to the VA Travel Desk (where you go to do anything BUT travel) at the VAMC in Dallas and THEN having just been to the VAMC/Nellis and having GONE THROUGH their travel pay fiasco..................well, I can't help but wonder if this is just another diabolical PLOT (it's us against them, again............).

Seriously, if they DO NOT get the travel pay disaster that is the Dallas VAMC solved................someone is gonna go "Postal". Heck (see, Pete, I can be less vulgar than you thought), heck, you can't EVEN get ON or OFF the elevator going to the clinics in the new addition. NOT GOOD with the heat of Summer coming on.

At the VAMC they will only pay travel pay on the day of service but the CBOC's don't have a travel pay agent so they give you this form. You wouldn't believe it if you saw it. It's like somebody found an old form and ran it thru a copy machine on an angle, cutting off the form numbers. They didn't bother to print the instructions, nor do they bother to tell you what portion needs to be filled in. The mailing address is handwritten in the top margin. Then they attached the Benefits Fact sheet, again handwriting the mailing address/phone # in the top margin. I guess that's their way of saying, oh yeah, you deserve to get this but we're not helping you. The gal that handed it to C said nobody (??) had ever asked for one before. Hard to believe that!

You may be right LarryJ. I most likely shouldn't do this because it'll cause even more trouble, but I think I'll phone the Travel Office (since there is a phone number on the fact sheet C received) on Monday and see what I can find out about these forms. I hate to do it but maybe, just maybe, I will get some answers.

  8. my first thought on this topic - is that the form is no longer in use, why file it?

Maybe form 10-2511 is the form you need. (http://www4.va.gov/vaforms/medical/pdf/VHA-10-2511-fill.pdf) I searched for travel reimbursement and this is the only one that applies.

Sages, please tell me if this is correct!

    Hi akwidow,

Thanks for your reply on this. I really appreciate it. My thoughts go along the same line as yours, except the VA gave my husband the 3542 form with their signature as verification of his appointment. So, in my mind, we have to return this form to have proper verification.

C generally goes to the VAMC for his appointments, getting his travel pay when he leaves, so this a new process for us.

  9. I've run into a situation that I'd really appreciate some Hadit help with. CHR49 went for an appointment at his VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic the other day and asked for a travel voucher when he left. The receptionist handled him a signed/dated, poorly copied, barely legible form which I have finally identified as a VA 3542 (Beneficiary). I searched for this form on Hadit and found links which ran me into computer issues. I've also searched every gov form site I can find and have found that this form is no longer in use :o .

What I'm looking for is the instructions so I can properly fill this thing out and get it into the mail. If I could get my hands on a legible form with the instructions intact I'd print it off so my husband could carry some with him for use in the future. The clinic might even appreciate a legible copy :) !

Many thanks to anybody that can help me!

    CHR's wife - Kathy

  10. I was just informed that there is a virus called koobvirus spreasing like wildfire on face book. Look it up on computer for details and warn your facebook friends.

Tried Facebook and it wasn't for me -- but I have several family members that are fans so I'll warn them! Thanks for the info Skunk

  11. I'm going to agree w/Berta in that death brings out the worst and best in all families. I also agree that you should hire an attorney, to handle the will. Actually, I suggest, if you own anything of value, outright, such as real property, you consider a revokable living trust, as it allows your beneficiary(s) immediate control, upon your death. Trying to avoid attorneys fees can cost in a long run. While purchasing online or general will forms online, unless they've been reviewed and approved by an attorney they could be invalid, causing your beneficairy(s) long delays in providing the benefits you desired. jmo
