Received an invitation to participate in a new pilot program....Is anybody familiar with this program? Any input would be appreciated:
You are invited to participate in a new pilot program designed to accelerate claims and appeals processing known as the Expedited Claims Adjudication (ECA) Initiative. Your VA regional office (RO) is one of four RO's that was selected nationwide to participate in this two-year pilot program. Please read the information below to learn more about participating in the ECA and how it could benefit you.
The ECA is a voluntary program that allows proactive veterans to have eligible claims adjudicated more quickly by agreeing to modified claims processing procedure. Under ECA, VA will still assist you in obtaining evidence needed to substantiate your claims. Further details regarding claims processing under the ECA are outlined in detail in the enclosed Agreement and Waiver of Rights. Your representative can also provide you with important information about the ECA.

Why doesn't any of this surprise me?
And they can't understand why so many of us (and our loved ones) are angry.

Ranting is OK, most of us do it at one time or another. Healthy discussions is a good thing because it keeps us aware. Just remember that you are one of us. We all have our issues and challenges. Each of us has good and bad days. I know I've posted some comments on my bad days that I'd like to take back. We need to remember that forum posts may act as triggers for some vets and be kind to each other.

akwidow,
Bless you for taking such good care of your father.
I know it's not always easy to care for a loved one once senility sets in. It sounds like you are doing an awesome job!

So sorry to read that you've had to go thru so much since the death of your husband. I know you'll find many helpful people here at Hadit.

Hang in there. I know it's hard to stay positive when you've been waiting so long.

Shaq,
I agree that there are always some people that will try to take advantage and file bogus disability claims and it's sad that a few bad apples have to ruin it for many that have valid claims. I believe that most people that file are simply good people that want nothing more than what they deserve.
I agree with LarryJ's response. For us older guys & gals [i'm 61] the claims process isn't always easy. It may take several months just to gather our records & evidence before we can even think about filing a claim. Records/evidence can be difficult to locate, sometimes impossible. Getting Buddy letters to support a claim may be more difficult since our 'Buddies' have disappeared over the years & may actually be gone by now. I had trouble remembering all of the places, times and specifics to support my claim because I'd spent years trying to forget everything.
Since coming to Hadit I've learned that I've made some mistakes in my dealings with the VA. I'm thankful I've found Hadit to help me learn to do things correctly from here on.

Dilaudid (Generic: Hydromorphone)- opioid analgesics that are supplied in 2 mg,4 mg and 8 mg tablets. Excellent pain medication but make sure you don't stop them abruptly. A surgeon forgot to wean my wife off them before sending her home. Her withdrawal was really bad.

Welcome Emma Jean!

Sounds like I'm screwed!
So much for trusting your VSO
I sure wish I'd found Hadit earlier!
Wish me luck...I think I've presented a solid claim so only time will tell.
