Thanks for the link Berta. I've bookmarked it for myself. I agree that everybody should have a will.

Welcome to Hadit Jack. You'll find all kinds resources here.

My Service Officer printed my codes out while I was there.
Extra mention, if you have a copy of your Claims File (C-file) everything 'should' be there. If you don't have a copy, time to request it, but only if no active claims are ongoin.
Best to ya,
Cowgirl'up!
Thanks Cowgirl. I have an active claim right now but I hadn't thought about asking my service officer.

Call the 800# and request a complete copy of your last rating including the rating codes. It should have everything that you ever claimed, both service connected and non-service connected, their effective dates, and your percentages.
Thanks Pete992
I have a claim in the works right now so I'm waiting to request my c-file. This should do it for me. Appreciate your help!

Thanks for all your advice and support. I am now inpatient for the second time "PTSD treatment program" in Cali. Checked in Feb 2010 and been here for the past 60 days. It has helped control my behavior I just have to keep my fingers crossed I can use the skills taught in the real world. I'll be discharged in two weeks...feeling alittle scared. Thank you again for your words of wisdom and guidance. You saved me from myself. XO
It's so good to read that you went for treatment. Being scared about your discharge is to be expected. Just remember that you aren't alone and we'll be waiting to hear more from you.

IMO, it sounds like they are running random drug screens which should show both medications.

Hello- I am pretty new to this forum and I need help with my VA Reconsideration. I am USAF AD in the VA Pilot Program. I am applying for a VA Reconsideration due to three clear and undeniable errors on my 356 which lead to an incorrect ratings.
The first error in rating was my idiopathic neutropenia. They rated on my platlets instead of my white cells and therefore rated me 0%; Platlets have nothing to do with this disease. Go figure.
My Total Hysterectomy was not rated due to the VA saying it was an elective procedure. This was not true; I have located my doc and had him write a letter stating he recommended the procedure.
My IBS was identified in my NARSUM but no rated or mentioned in the 356.
Also some major scars were not rated though they were measured at my C&P exam.
I want to know if anyone has any experience with filing a VA Reconsideration while being on the VA pilot program? Should I meet with the VA in person? Do I need a lawyer yet? Also- does anyone have an example of a letter sent in for reconsideration and also- how much infromation and back up info has to be included? Any info would help. Thanks.
Welcome Schatze.
C doesn't have any experience in filing a reconsideration so I'm hoping one of Hadit's finest will come to your aid.
If this is the ECA Initiative, I believe you agreed to be represented by your chosen VSO or lawyer. Have you discussed your options with him/her? Whatever you choose to do, be very careful with your deadlines, since you agreed to shorter periods of response, etc.
We'll be interested to hear how things work out for you. Best wishes!

How does one find out what the diagnostic codes are for their SC'ed disabilities. None of my letters have ever put a code next to my conditions.

Can you receive full compensation and still work? Any links for information would be appreciated.
Try a Hadit search for "100% and working". You may find some of the info you are looking for there. I think you'll find that whether you are schedular or IU makes a difference.

If this turns out to be true medically speaking, the flood gates will open
and the back log will triple.

Here's a link to an interesting study that brings up the connection:
http://psychservices.psychiatryonline.org/...t/full/53/7/848
"With all other variables in the equation controlled for, participants with PTSD were more than twice as likely as those without PTSD to report anemia, lung disease, or an ulcer; more than three times as likely to report kidney disease; and more than four times as likely to report arthritis."

Happy to see we're up and running again...Had me worried for a bit!

chr,
I'm glad you were able to get the care you deserve. It feels alot better when you leave the doctors office and all your questions/concerns are addressed. I'm surprised that you got your records while you waited, at my VAMC they send them to you if it's over 10 pages.
Take care,
Bergie
I know...My wife and I were both so surprised when they printed off over 350 pages in less than 10 minutes! The file was still hot off the printer. It was almost too easy. From this point on I will get copies each time I go for an appointment to keep my files up to date.

An update...
I went for my VAMC appointment today and got all of my questions answered.
Even better yet, I went to the Records Release Dept. to request my medical file (thinking they'd tell me they would send them) and they printed out my entire file while I waited. They also included all of my records from my Outpatient PACS clinic and the other VAMC in their system! It was almost too easy! I have tons of paperwork to review now.
Thanks to all for encouraging to speak up.

I really enjoy reading positive stories about the VA! Thanks for sharing this one!

Thanks Bergie and Van,
I'm ashamed because my wife has been telling me exactly the things you mention for several years now. She gets so mad when I come home saying I forgot to tell them something important or not asking questions about the things I don't understand. She tells me that I'm stuck in the past, thinking I must be "good" and not complain. She says the doctors are only as good as the information they are given. Tell them nothing and you'll get nothing in return. Guess she's right.
I will see that she types up a list of medical concerns & questions to remind me this time around. Knowing her, she'll make 2 copies, 1 for me and 1 for the doctor.
Thanks again.

First some background; I don't have my VAMC medical records yet but I have private medical records that diagnose me with Aortic Atherosclerosis. I've had several cardio-vascular tests done thru the VA in the past 2 years and I'm going to my VAMC in a couple days for my routine labs/office visit.
So here my question; Is it appropriate for me to ask my doc if I have a IHD diagnosis on my file? Do you think they will tell me?
If not, does anybody know if there is any way I can find out the diagnoses I have on file without having to wait for the medical records.
Thanks ahead for any advise you can give me.

Not sure where you got 60% for PTSD
VA rates it at 10-30-50-70 & 100% per regulations:
