I usually get that when they are verifying dependants. It's housekeeping, really, and doesn't result in much.
-
It certainly isn't for lack of politicians trying. . What with all the veterans around, if they aren't voting their rights, then they are going to eventually lose them. Historically, though, threatening to cut VA benefits has been sabre rattling.
-
Correct. They have said this every year since I got out in 2001 and they haven't touched it. I doubt they will anytime soon.
-
They send a letter RE: a reduction approx 90 days prior.
-
Usually you would contact the base for that. When my wife got a room at Ft. Lee for my AIT graduation years ago, she contacted a base liason to set it up.
Elemndorg (AF) has a place in Anchorage. Try this site and see what you come up with. Good luck and safe travels.

I thought this was changed this year to help reduce paperwork? VA should be able to get your employability infor and dependent information from your tax forms, and is working to do so. A year ago they were supposed to start doing this on pension forms, but maybe they included IU verification in it this year.

Right you are, RIck-missed that. I started at 40% SC 10 yrs ago and never looked super close that the travel pay regs, but you are correct. If your combined rating is 30% or more you should qualify for Travel Pay regardless. Check your clinic for the particulars-some places are doing it via direct deposit and some still pay the day of.

Boomer-Click on "more reply options" then use the Attach option and you can post your document.

Yes, though, for small trips its not usually worth that much-as many as you are doing , though, it would be.
only if its a SC condition, though-sorry just caught that after a quick 2nd read.
-
Supposed to, yes, but do they? It depends on your GP. If your C&P is done by a contractor that is just there to connect the dots? I wouldn't be so sure. Its a personal decision.

Only explaining the worst day would, at best, count as 'lay person' observation only. At worst it leaves the door open for the examiner to suspect over emphasis of symptoms. "Description" is not clinical observation.
-
Ive heard both theories. However, Id rather go in with observable issues then 'tell' them how bad it is. From the POV of a VA examiner, or any examiner, of COURSE its terrible and worse when you aren't on your meds THIS MUCH. Problem is, we have a vested interest in the outcome. Rather than depending on the examiner to believe me, id rather go in with observable deficiencies-unless it is dangerous to myself to not take medication for a week prior. SSRIs are funny like that. Pain meds don't cause as much of a problem, for me.
-
They didn't with me, but that was ten years ago, too. Still, not that I've heard of.
-
There isn't a test. If it's noted in your records and you were around noise it's s pretty safe filing.
-
They go back to the date that you filed for the increase, usually.
-
Lets also KIM however, that if the surgery does result in a positive outcome, that is a good thing despite any loss of residual income-you are gaining back use/mobility in lieu of loss of use and compensation.
-
Ha, so they raised it a few dollars. Good for them, I guess. According to the combined chart, 60% and 10% would be 64%, so rounded down you would still be at 60%.
-
You get a 0% rating for ED, and then an award for SMC that is something like 98.00 a month. Unless, of course, you are rated SC for ED, at 0%, but then denied SMC.....? Not sure how that happened with me, but that's what they did. SO, for the last almost 3 years ive had that on appeal.

NP, Dart. Just fill out 21-4138 and say you want t copy of your C-File and send/fax/scan to your RO. Thats all you have to do. I have a few free faxes left in an account that you can use if you want. Just download a 21-4138 (or just type up your request, you don't really have to use the specific form, even) and Ill give you the log in and PW for my account. Its a free/throw away account that I don't use often. You can PM me later for details if you like.
You can also sign up for Ebenefits and upload documents through there, too.
-
Yes. You have to request a physical copy, or you can go into the VA RO and ask to see it. Id opt for the physical copy. ONce you receive it, date stamp the folder or something so you know what iteration of it you have. Then, you can do your OWN research on your conditions, whats in your file, and you'll konw what is in there and what isn't. I would also opt to digitize the whole thing as PDF. Kinko;s or similar can do this for you.
Also, on Ebenefits you can request your 201 file also, as a PDF. its good to have around to refresh your memory of times/dates, etc for service tours and locations.

*lol* No worries, Berta, you are right so many other times that this is a blip.
If it was VA prescribed, or a VA Fee Based procedure, it would be covered. 'Self medicating' or treatment outside VA care, though, most likely would not be. I think the rep is probably correct, but you might want to run it by someone from DAV, or Amer Legion or similar for the actual regs and citations. I don't have the site bookmarked at work. Good luck!

Hmmm......Well, if the GERD is SC, I can see VA asking why private meds are being used and something through VA formulary.....maybe that is where he/she is coming from?
-
That NSAID med was prescribed by outpatient VA, though. He's asking about non- VA prescribed meds for a VA covered condition.
-
Should, will, could....if you want to be sure, make copies of the relevant stuff and highlight the high points in color or something. Worst, its just paperwork that is extra, but best, it will spark discussion or a reminder of whats happening-and it will remind you of things to bring up as well.
Lumbar Claim, Will They Infer Sciatica?
in VA Disability Claims Research

I wouldn't count on it. Its separately rated for me. Im rated 40% DDD and 10% extremity for the sciatica.
