Pete Has It On The Ball For A & A

U were right in answering A & A is added to 100% Comp. where all the others said "NO"

Thank U again for the good answer & know wife wouldn't be worth much on her own A & A but will take every penny I can get.

Now all I have to do is win the damn thing. HA Have favorable opinions from every VA Doc I see

What about if you are getting service at home by a physical and occupational therapist because the va cannot provide these services to you were does that put a vet at?

That's a tricky one. It seems they way that might work would be through fee basis. It's not exactly the same kind of medical care that would qualify for A&A. The cost should still be covered by the VA if it is for a SC'd condition and they are unable to provide the service. Talk to the Fee Basis department at your VAMC, and get your PCP involved if you have to.

THE REASON FOR MY ? I AM GETTING PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AT HOME PLUS A NURSE VISITS ME FOR ISSUES THAT ARE SC BUT THE VA IS NOT PROVIDING THESE SERVICES TO ME BECAUSE THEY ARE A SMALL CLINIC AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THE STAFF.

Just cause they don't have the staff does not mean that they should not pay for it. You should request fee service to pay for these expenses if you are 50% or more.

Depending on the reason for the nurse visits, you may qualify for A&A (R1). You really do need to contact the Fee Basis department at the parent VAMC and inquire about them paying for the PT and OT. I would then file a claim for A&A, especially since you're rated at 100%. First, try to get something in writing from your PCP stating that you require the care of a nurse at home. That will make your claim go much faster and easier.

Do you have to requst a&a at the R1 rate or does the va grant it to you?
