Question

Im in the process of getting my VA disability taken care of. I was told that I should also file for SSD. Dont I havent to be like 65 or something for that? I have no clue how it works. If some one could guide me to who to talk with to get my SSD started that would be awesome. And also explain a little what it is and all. Thanks!!

If you are P & T Disabled, file for SSD. For example I'm 100% P&T for PTSD. I also receive SSD.

Good Luck,

Don

If you can't work anymore file for Social Security disability. Many Veterans who get Service Connected disability also get Social Security disability.

Social Security Disability Insurance is available for anyone, regardless of age (I have a friend whose daughter was severely disabled when she had a stroke at the age of 9 and she was receiving SSDI).

Social Security Retirement is the OTHER Social Security........where you have to have paid in X number of "quarters" to qualify.

To apply for Social Security, just go down to your nearest local Social Security office, or you can start the application process on line, but you will, eventually, have to have a "sit down" with them........they did mine over the telephone.

Before you apply search the net for sites that show you how to do it, to get it aproved. try disabilitydoc.--social security disability blog---how to win your social security disability.

I followed the advice of a few knowledgeable individuals here and applied for SSD. I assumed it was a long shot because I heard things like, if you're under 65 you won't get it, you'll be denied 3-4 times, and you need to be 100% from the VA first. Don't let anything discourage you. I applied and got it on the first go around. Even if you DO get denied don't give up on it. I hope you've already set up, or the first thing tommorow, call and set up an appointment with Social Security. When you do go for your "sit down" be honest with them. The facts don't lie, and if you rate SSD, you'll get SSD. Good Luck!
