Question

www.vawatchdog.org/09/nf09/nfapr09/nf042109.htm the story is here and I logged in and saw the "New Website" and blog for them only. It is www.oefoif.va.gov I thought it was only a matter of time. The VA is trying to pit all of us against our brothers and sisters of recent conflicts. They even have a pic with vet and family at a VA in Pa and a big banner "Welcome Home American Heroes"

I remember like yesterday the terrible ways the viet nam vets were treated for many years.

It makes no sense to push anyone ahead unless their condition warrants, ie dying, severe traumatic injuries(severe amputations), blindness, etc. This is the VA doing this not our fellow vets.

For those of us who waited years and tried to "tuff it out" and now get shafted, I feel the pain. Take a number fellow vet, oh you are too old, get at the back of the line. I want to cry, but am cried out now. B)

Thanks bunches Berta. It seems VA goes over board on the "at the moment Vets". Its another VA Phase. When I go to the VA I see a big sign Welcome OIF Veterans of Terrorism. Stop by and sign up for your benefits. Makes one wonder. Sign has been up for a year nice Computer sign with color. At this VA facility they have their own clinics. As I said its all a phase.

OMG I couldn't agree more but I believe this is all rhetorical and where the rubber meets the road, it will all be the same.

As stupid as this sounds when I got out of the service all they showed me was the door. It was many years later when an old vet I worked with in the Dept. of the Army pulled me aside and told me what the VA was and some of how it worked. so caqmpaigns come and go but one vet with another vet cannot be replaced.

I didn't dream up this story in my head. Larry Scott has it on his site. I found it and simply stated the story posted and the facts relivent to my case. I am not going to go there as we all have our opinions and you are fortunate to have a VA that basically stays the same. I have not had fair experiences at mine, and can vouch for many others who have not either. However I thought the purpose of this site was to be able to speak/write freely about our feelings and maybe our beliefs and if I step on toes well I guess we need to get out steel toe boots. This is a democracy and I am greatful to tbird for allowing us this forum. That is the beauty of a democratic system, but I do not try to offend others or make a mockery of what someone may say/feel/write. More older vets seem to live in warmer climates too.

Brother I sure get it, my original claim was held up for 1 half years and a denial so fast and rediculas your head would spin, yes the serveir should be taken care of first but I don't like the front of the line treatment for all new when there are veteran fighting the very same claims for years here, we loose our Hero status and go to the back of the bus. No I don't like it I am starting my forth year now fighting the original claim and I have seem some newer vet rated and shot through the process few times before I even got my first C&P. I know this is not the new vets fault this is the VA's way of saying we fixed it the back log problem.Yog

Ah let them have the site. Things change over time in that 40 years ago no veteran would have dreamed or believed he/she could research via the internet and level the playing ground!

The site is just a site and any change in favor of veterans, new or old, gets a thumbs up from me.

Our only concern should be that we are standing in the door waiting to offer assistance to these guys and gals when it finally sinks in that the VA does a whole lotta show and very little action.
