carlie
They have to be conducted by audiology and more likely than not will be done at the same time. There IS NO specific test for Tinnitus as it is subjective, but there are at least two requirements that must be met with medical evidence in order to grant Tinnitus as compensable. Also, regardless of if Tinnitus is perceived in one ear or both ears it is paid comped at 10 %. Look over the regs for hearing disorders in 38 CFR - Part 4. carlie

12R3G
I suppose it depends on the RO, but I was SC'd 0% for hearing and 10% for tinnitus based on the same audiolgist C&P exam. If you had a job with hazardous noise exposure--in other words, exposed to acoustical trauma--the odds of developing tinnitus are much greater. Cavtrooper088
I took one test which covered both hearing loss and Tinnitus. Received 10% for Tinnitus and was rated at 0% for hearing loss.

etihwr
There is no test for Tinnitus. Also most people do the hearing test wrong. The Army is conducting a accurate hearing test, but the DVA does it the old fashion way which is wrong. You should be asked to listen to the sounds/tones in environment that has a fair amount of background noise. If you can hear the sounds, more power to you, but if not, you should receive some type of disability rating to include a 0% rating. If you get a 10% rating for anything, your entitled to free hearing aides and free eye glasses. Are the hearing test and the tinnitus test done at the same time or are they different tests?
