Here it is:

http://www.vawatchdog.org/09/nf09/nfoct09/nf101909-1.htm

Let's keep it in perspective:

On one hand the VA management "looks the other way" when VA employees steal blankets from homeless Veterans. On the other hand the VA management tells congress that if they only had more money, they could help homeless Veterans by instigating new homeless programs and services because the VA "cares about its Veterans".

Do the VA promises to help reduce the backlog and reduce Veteran homelessness seem hypocritical to you too?

The VA specifically told the Vets to return the merchandise and would get amnesty or I assume they would be prosecuted.

Read the whole article and don't blow it out of proportion.

Vets didnt steal anything. VA employees stole from Veterans and do not deserve amnesty. That is the "looking the other way" part. If the VA employees were children, and this is the first time they ever stole anything then it may be appropriate for the parents to make em put it back. I am not blowing it out of proportion: If VA employees steal small things and get away with it, why should we trust them with big things? That is like making a thief that breaks into your house your investment advisor and turning over your retirement to his discretion/care.

The VA followed up on this and informed the employees to return the goods. They "didn't look the other way" as you stated which in misleading. Just because a few crooks took some blankets doesn't mean I have lost all trust in the VA. That's just a bunch of drama being blown out of proportion in my mind.

I personally do not believe the veteran's homeless population

is as extensive as made out to be.

Veteran's do have several more ways to beat homelessness than

a civilian does.

If you notice many of the people on corner's with the will work

for food signs, also state homeless veteran and I'd bet a month's compensation,

the majority of them are not veterans.

I see most veteran's, even with our disabilities as strong

resourceful, survivor's.

I've been there, mowed yards, scrapped metal, washed greasy dishes.

As far as VA employees taking items from the stand down ---

well of course that isn't right.

I think that with any proof, they should be fired without benefits,

to include any type of severance/unemployment and their names

should go on the front page of their neighborhood newspaper.

jmho,

carlie

The head of the VA psychology program in Tampa was running a homeless shelter for vets. He was charging them for shelter and food and putting that money in his pocket. He was also running a scam with public housing. He is in prison now I think. He should have been hanged.

It is really hard to count the homeless. In my county there is supposed to be about 10,000 homeless. It might be twice that many. They don't stand still for a census. The county next door put up a tent city. Many homeless are severely mentally ill and won't go to shelters. What is sad is that more and more homeless are children.
