  1. Being accepting into the military and passing the physical and psychiatric examination etc is an indication that you entered completely healthy so the VA would award aggravation appropriately. If there are severe pre-existing mental issues then they will be discovered in bootcamp. I personally witnessed 3 booties get the boot after they blew their top and then admitted their mental disturbances. One couldn't sleep at all and the others were just just too depressed to make it through. I felt sorry for them but they would have been a liability. dh
  2. I thought you wanted someone to post their actual letter and then you would just fill in the blanks. That wouldn't be good. Now I understand your request. Thanks for your service, dh
  3. In general because today if you disclose any prior mental disorder you won't be able to serve. dh
  4. Vets should make sure they are honest when they enlist into the service. Many that claim aggravation from service for pre-existing mental disorders didn't disclose their disorders when enlisting. So when they get out they want aggravation for something they never disclosed when entering service. Where is the honesty here? dh
  5. It's best to be original with the nexus letter and just let your doc type it up their own way. Just remember that there are important incerpts such as "I have reviewed the veterans medical records" and "it is my opinion that his/her condition if more likely than not related to _____." You may want to consult with your VSO and see what they would recommend. I have letters but the wording in them wouldn't do you any good since there are many ways these letters can be constructed. This would also be considered coaching and coaching isn't allowed here. dh
  6. Wow Larry, I'm checking in on that one next time at Wal-mart. dh
  7. Here ya go.....Good luck, dh http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/rates/comp01.htm
  8. Navydoc, I would submit a copy of that yourself just to make sure. This is huge for your SSD claim and your Voc Rehab denial adds weight too. dh
  9. Hey, did you send in your IU award letter and Voc Rehab denial to SSD? Definetely do this soon if you haven't. This is heavy weight for your SSD claim. You can apply for P&T anytime. dh
  10. I have Verizon and they offer 15% discount too. dh
  11. Yes, this doesn't mean they can get your personal info on your computer, just collecting IP address which is basically nothing. Always a good practice to delete your cookies every now and again. dh
  12. DAV rep informed me today my claim for TDIU is sitting on a desk for final signature. Said we should have a decision before November. We'll see, dh
  13. You're correct....giving false facts isnt good....Opinions on the other hand?????? :D I hope only the best for your claim and I guess anything can happen. Just don't rely on the improbable. Do what's needed to get it won first time around. Don't cheat yourself by wishing on a star. You have to be proactive and ultimately it's up to you to win your claim. Good luck dh
  14. Usually severe memory (cognitive) problems are more associated with TBI. Has your examiner or psychiatrist opined that your memory problems are associated with you PTSD? dh
  15. nah, that would come to about 192,000 total cases decided in a year if each judge did 10 a day. Since there are 64 judges then it would come to about 2 1/2 cases decided every working day on average for each judge. 2.5 * 64 = 160 160 * 300 = 48,000 I used 300 working days to take out weekends and holidays so this is a liberal estimate. dh
  16. Can you post more of your exam so we can help more? thanks, DH
  17. Winning the lottery is possible too but let's stay within realistic realm. Giving false hope isn't good. dh
  18. Applying for 100% PTSD would be a waste of time if you are working full-time. For 100% you have to have TOTAL occupational impairment. Here's the 100% rating criteria. General Rating Formula for Mental Disorders: Total occupational and social impairment, due to such symptoms as: gross impairment in thought processes or communication; persistent delusions or hallucinations; grossly inappropriate behavior; persistent danger of hurting self or others; intermittent inability to perform activities of daily living (including maintenance of minimal personal hygiene); disorientation to time or place; memory loss for names of close relatives, own occupation, or own name 100 dh
  19. Just being homeless itself doesn't mean a vet is unemployable. Some choose to be homeless and some are homeless for non-service connected conditions. dh
  20. Is there a consult form or is a consult just a letter from the doc? dh
  21. My Guess you have 70%. 1228 * 2 = 2456 If you filed in Aug it would mean you have retro for Sept and this month.... Congrats on your award..That was a fast one. dh
  22. Larry, I would trust the VA to give me the correct numbers on the backload of claims. It's easy. All ya have to do is take the number they give you and multiply times 3. dh
  23. What is the process of getting this? I need outpatient bipolar counseling since my VAMC doesn't offer it. All I get at the VAMC is medication therapy (psychiatrist) and that's once every three months. dh
  24. The VA followed up on this and informed the employees to return the goods. They "didn't look the other way" as you stated which in misleading. Just because a few crooks took some blankets doesn't mean I have lost all trust in the VA. That's just a bunch of drama being blown out of proportion in my mind. dh
  25. Where is the fee basis office located? is it at the VAMC or RO? dh
