  1. The VA specifically told the Vets to return the merchandise and would get amnesty or I assume they would be prosecuted. Read the whole article and don't blow it out of proportion. Geeeez, dh
  2. mmmm, $1000 bucks for a C&P exam. Well we all know now how much those docs are getting for an hours work.......
  3. This kind of reminds me of when they did a pap smear on my anus and got the cultures mixed up. Came back squamaus cell but the next day they said they had the cultures mixed up. Actually was just some benign tissue. dh
  4. Congratulations on the updated rating. Sorry to hear about your denial for IU but should be straightened out after you submit that form. Like Berta said, do it Monday to get the ball rolling on this if that's all they need. dh
  5. Yes John, my local grocery about two blocks away is hiring for door greeters and baggers. I agree with what you're saying here and the truth is that anyone on IU ain't gonna take a door greeting job makeing 9 bucks an hour. Especially if they have a family to feed. dh
  6. Must have been another reason they lost there benies like they went over their 9 months or something. Never heard of anyone losing their benies during the trial period. It's there for a reason so people won't lose their benies for trying to see if they can work. If you are still working after the nine months are up then your SSD will stop. I, myself, continued to work since I had improved but then lost my job due to my disability. My benies were started back up automatically without an exam. Claimants must also know that they only get ONE trial work period in a 36 month rolling period. This is from SSA site: Social Security work incentives at a glance Trial work period—The trial work period allows you to test your ability to work for at least nine months. During your trial work period, you will receive your full Social Security benefits regardless of how much you are earning as long as you report your work activity and you continue to have a disabling impairment. In 2009, a trial work month is any month in which your total earnings are $700 or more, or, if you are self-employed, you earn more than $700 (after expenses) or spend more than 80 hours in your own business. The trial work period continues until you have worked nine months within a 60-month period. Extended period of eligibility—After your trial work period, you have 36 months during which you can work and still receive benefits for any month your earnings are not “substantial.” In 2009, earnings of $980 or more ($1,640 if you are blind) are considered substantial. No new application or disability decision is needed for you to receive a Social Security disability benefit during this period. Expedited reinstatement—After your benefits stop because your earnings are substantial, you have five years during which you may ask us to start your benefits immediately if you find yourself unable to continue working because of your condition. You will not have to file a new disability application and you will not have to wait for your benefits to start while your medical condition is being reviewed to make sure you are still disabled. Continuation of Medicare—If your Social Security disability
  7. I was on this program in 2006. Great program and nice piece of mind knowing they won't pull your benies in this 9 months trial. dh
  8. As far as the math part it is easy to calculate. I only assume that bronco did the math correctly. dh
  9. Since you're already at 80% you have a great chance at the full shabang, golden egg, etc...... dh
  10. If you find that your disability improves you can go back to work and get full SSD benefits for 9 months. It's called a "trial work period." As long as you don't work I wouldn't worry about losing it. The last evaluation I got was 5 years after my initial award and all they did was verify if had worked any. I did have a few part-time jobs but they still considered me totally disabled. They didn't give me any exams and I didn't have to submit any medical evidence. dh
  11. Qualifications for SSD do not have any bearing on any property you own. SSD isn't "EARNED INCOME." A qualified disabled person could have a million bucks in the bank and still get full SSD. dh
  12. It will happen..Just gotta have faith and SSD does offer substantial weight to IU if it's for the same SC conditions. Good luck on your PTSD claim. How strong do you feel your claim is and do you have proof of stressor in service? dh
  13. It's only a constitutional right if you're entitled to it. Many frivilous claims out there bogging up the system. dh
  14. Don't know the whole story but feel for ya. dh
  15. Just remember that if it's considered a inferred claim you should bring it to VA's attention. Don't rely on the VA to start processing an inferred claim for ya even though they should. EED is often erred on VA's fault since they often start the IU claim when the Vet files. We all know that almost always were too disabled to work before we filed the claim. If you were fired from your job due to your disability and then filed for IU three months later then your termination date could be considered an inferred date but remember you should address this to the VA before they make a decision or you will probably have to appeal for the correct EED. DH
  16. Mess ups like this can be a little frightening but you wouldn't lose your 100% P&T in a blink of an eye. dh
  17. Just keep the faith. In no more than two months (before Xmas) all this will be mute point. Best of luck, dh
  18. I've noticed in this PTSD era the RO's have stepped up security with metal detection and officers with guns. dh
  19. yepper dabby doo.....I worked part-time while I was in voc rehab..There's no rule specifically against it but you have to get approved by the councilor first. The degree you want to pursue needs to be something different than what your doing for work. I wanted a degree in psychology but I was working customer service at the time so I qualified. If you're already working in the field the same as your educational goals then they will deny saying there's no need to rehab you since you're already working in the field. dh
  20. This is uncalled for since you get so many more benies (excempt property tax..etc), discounted fishing liscense hunting liscense and more and more......I would have showed this letter to that RO helper person in front of everyone in the room. You have a right to know if you're P&T. I feel for ya having to go through this mess. dh
  21. A vet can get drug abuse or alcohol abuse as secondary to a SC mental condition. dh
