Would it be better, if I am given a large RETRO, to forego the RETRO in the hopes of obtaining a monthly stipend?

Can I forego voluntarily while applying? If the RETRO is large will they be extra diligent about disapproving the claim?

Also, if my claim would embarrass the military by showing exposure SARIN chemicals am I sure to be denied, even if true?

Would it be better just to claim severe pnuemonia and not list a cause when applying. Or will they ask for a primary

cause for the pneumonia?

I am a little confused on what andhow to apply, but anyones help is greatly appreciated. Thank You...

The VA can exercise "undue diligence' in denying any probative claim for service connection.They do that all the time-that is why we are here.

There are other underlying health conditions I have not mentioned for fear the VA will seek

to identify me through some means. Am I being overly cautious? But I do have SMRs acknowledging these medical

conditions, however they are vague and do not reveal a cause. Thank You for responding. JamesR

Identify you? that doesnt make sense-

you have to identify yourself to the VA as well as your MOS to establish a claim.

That goes for Top Secret MOS as well.They declassify the TS MOS records if needed to establish service connection.

You need a current documented disability and a proven medical nexus (or cause) to your service.

James, your post make absolutely no sense at all.

You are entitled to Retro if a condition is found to be service conected.

For the Veteran to obtain benefits through the VA system you have to be indeitified and your character of service will be verified.

That is one of the avenues the VA weeds out fraudulent claimants from seeking benefits.

When a claimant is granted disability compensation it is not

viewed as a "stipend" it is compensation for disability.

Heck - if you would even consider passing up - giving back -

what-ever you want to call it, a large retroactive payment,

then why are you even bothering with an application for VA disability ?

It reads kind of like you want to make a deal with VA, reads like

OK VA - if you will just approve my issue/s and start compensting me monthly -

then I will let you keep my big retroactive payment.

Are you a combat vet?

You have filed/are going to file a claim for XXXX disability?

Have you filed a claim with VA in the past and been denied?

Do you recieve medical services at a VAMC?
