Col. Gentry Dies From Exposure In Iraq!

This is the latest news on the exposure to troops in Iraq to Sodium Dichromate. My battalion commander Col. James Gentry passed away from cancer that he believes came from his exposure while in Iraq. Hundreds of US Soldiers are suffering from this and still the VA denies us any service connection to this exposure. Per VA "at this time we do not show ANY chronic health problems with exposure to sodium dichromate. This is what they told me earlier this year when I applied last August for problems. In February 2009 i was sent the denial letter. There have been numerous congressional hearings on this as well as having VA involved in the hearings. Still no help! I filed a NOD on my denial. How long will we continue to pay until they give us our connection. Two soldiers from my unit have died from this and I said earlier hundreds are sick. Stomach problems, skin problems, joint problems, breathing problems the list goes on. This needs to be a kick in the ass for some help! KBR still denies anything they did was wrong. I am sorry but this problem about exposures had been fought for decades and more than 40% of these veterans are already dead more than 3000 and the VA and DOD still deny any liability

I agree. I see alot of my local Vietnam Vets that have suffered for years. I see them everytime I go to the VA for my appoinments. It brings tears to my eyes seeing these great men and women suffer the way they do and I have to as well. I am tired of these endless promises and then nothing happens. The same thing I am fighting over my stop loss payment. I was stop lossed of 11 months while I served and the government passed a repayment for those months served. The Army had 4 months to prepare before the website opened. Once it did the website was all messed up and now everyone is recieving the same email either the months you claimed are not in agreement with the government or your name and SSN does not show on our master list. This will take us more time than expected to assign a case manager to your case. Every single person that applied got this. I gave them every shread of evidence they needed to process my claim. They could have had all of our paystubs pulled before this started just as a beginning to show how long each soldier was payed. Its not rocket science. The same goes for the VA. Soldiers 90% of the time do not complain unless there is a problem. Get the soldiers connected and then go back and weed out the bad apples. The IRS does it every year. Empty promises every time I turn the corner. The government or the President needs someone in there that is truely going to fight for our rights. I would love to be that person. !st thing I would change is the bonus system. Everytime a soldier is actually given his or her claim service connected I would then give a bonus. That is what they are there for. If a soldier claims a problem with their shoulder and ankle and everything checks out ok but there is a problem then serve connect them for joint problems as a whole. Be there to help, not deny because of a few minor details. Soldiers may fall under another category for the health benefit they seek and not the one they claim. Help them, don't just deny because the soldier doesn't met that criteria. It never happens! I understand things happen and things are missed, but not 85% of the time. Give me a break! Time to take care of the ones who made this great nation what it is! Not the ones who sit back and reap the benefits for our suffering and then make the decision on how we should be taken care of. They don't know! They weren't there! They will never understand no matter how many books they read or how many stories they here. A vet is a vet no matter where they served. Land, air and sea it doesn't matter. You are a vet especially if you served during a war time. If soldiers show signs of any problems that are associated with that era is to be taken care of and not forgotten. WE ARE THE PRIDE OF THIS NATION, BRING THAT PRIDE HOME AND TAKE CARE OF THESE VETS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
